i had the same exact reading, and same symptoms... they are avoiding treatment because if the thyroid stabilizes itself, then you're great... other than that the meds they would give you would make you feel tired, sluggish, and possibly even make you gain weight... at a reading of .05, it's so borderline, its best to let the body try to regulate itself... have a follow up test done in 6 weeks, and in the meantime, do what i did, i started running, stopped smoking, and stopped drinking caffine... my is a .07 now, and i feel great! i wish you all the best!

I don't think retesting it should even be an issue at this point as you have already gotten 2 TSH readings with a negative value.
I wouldn't push the doctor to do anything him or her self about your thyroid but push them to refer you to an endocrinologist, which is a doctor that specializes in treating and diagnosing thyroid disorders or conditions.
The endocrinologist can give you an accurate answer as to whether this is hypothyroidism or simply a fluctuation due to age, illness, menopause or other reason.

Sometimes it does come back negative and later will test positive. I've been through it. It could be allergies, hormones, you could also have a B-12 deficiency. I've been through all of these problems including thyroid and I know it is annoying trying to find out, but while waiting on retesting of the thyroid go to your gyno and also ask your doctor about B-12 and allergies.

Your symptoms sound like hyperthyroidism. .05 is on the hyper side, as normal range for TSH is 0.3 to 3.0 and you are below the 0.3. The doctor should also be testing Free T4 and Free T3. If one of these is elevated along with the TSH of 0.05, then you are hyper. If your doctor won't treat you, ask to see an endocrinologist.

if it came back negative then you should call the doctor and tell him you want a referral to a specialist or someone willing to start some kind of treatment. you could have hypothyroidism.

What came back with that number? Usually they test T3, T4 and TSH.
