When i give my cat a bath and i dry her off she starts twitching and trys to lay down but has to keep moving, she can't sleep for about 3-4 hours after her bath we asked the vet and she said it was a seziure but my cat only acts like that after her bath. Is she allergic to the cat shampoo or what's wrong?

You should stop giving your cat a bath. Obviously, it's causing some health problems. It's not necessary to bathe a cat. They keep themselves very clean on their own. When you shampoo a cat, you are unnecessarily removing essential oils from their fur. It may just be an allergic reaction but it's not worth taking any more chances. Just stop giving her a bath and let her clean herself naturally.

If you are using a flea shampoo on your cat it most like is having a reaction. If you are using a topical such as frontline or your cat wears a flea collar do not give her a bath in flea shampoo. This will cause a reaction and can be fatal to cats. Seizures will occur if this done.

I'm not a pro, but my feeling is that you would know if your cat had a seizure. It's very not pretty and it usually lasts anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes and they usually do not stay standing up. I would get a second opinion, but in the meantime, don't bathe your cat.

why would you even want to give your cat a bath.cats hate water and can go into great stress when they get bathed or dipped, lots of shampoos for cats and dogs can be toxic on pets they can cause seizures and such...i would give up the baths awhile till you can find out whats running kitty crazy;;take kitty to a groomer so they can give kitty a relaxer 'so she doesn't lose her mind,,

I never bathe my cats...that terrifies them. My guess is that your cat was so scared from the bath that she did indeed go into a seizure. Listen to your vet. If you feel the cat needs bathing then take it to a professional groomer or vet who can sedate her.

Maybe she did because she was to scared of the water, if you really need to take her a bath or just clean her up, they sell these cat wipes at the pet shops. I use them.

keep the good answer, but i'd make sure there isn't an under-lying problem at your vet's. possibly, your cat is extremely stresed by the whole "bath" thing & this causes her seizures. she can & will keep herself clean (unless she's covered in polutants from outside, oil, petrol etc) let her see to her own ablutions. i hope the wee one's ok. good luck.

wow scary! i could only imagine...well your not supposed to wash your cat on a reagular basis...they do that themselves, you should only do that when she has fleas or got in the mud or somthing...she could be having panic attacks when you bath her, obviously it stresses her out very badly so i would cut back on the bathing...if you are really worried take her to another vet and get a second opion. good luck

i don't think so becasue my dog had a seizure and she would shake violently and twitch then foam at the mouth and pee and poop. she would also yelp. it is horrible. also since it onnly happens when it takes a bath. maybe it is a more mild seizure than my dog. we had to put my dog on medication that made her insanely hungry. i hope it gets better.

Cats are scared of water,

or maybe it needs some anti seizure bullets.
