cartilage has no blood supply, but is generally covered with alot of nerves, and the skin over it is heavy with capillaries...therefore, if you slice through it, cartilage will never heal back together, and if you punch a hole through it, the hole will never close back up, but the skin may heal over it either way. it will probably hurt like all get-out and bleed alot. but, since there is no blood supply to cartilage, its VERY important to make sure the area does not get infected (no blood supply, no white blood cells to clean out infection) if your ear gets infected, it would be a bad thing, since the skin would have a hard time migrating over the top of cartilage (skin cells migrate together over a wound, knitting together and healing it) whatever you do, please maintain as much sterility during the procedure as possible, or get someone who knows what theyre doing....

I had my cartilage pierced and it hurt reall bad for quite awhile. It wasn't infected, it just hurt. My friend had hers done at the same time, no problem. I heard it's easier to get get an infection. I do know I would never do it again and I'm 32.

I think it takes longer to stop the bleeding so you have to keep the area sterile for awhile to prevent infection. Use peroxide or rubbing alcohol on a suave / bandage and keep it on for a whole day or 2. Change the dressing once in awhile.

Boiling water for 10 minutes, then get rid of to a sparkling floor (by technique of sparkling, I propose sterile). i'd take a pyrex dish so that you are able to use to position your needle in and boil it also. enable to sit back, coated to stay clear of different debris from choosing it. placed needle in dish and cover. Then sparkling your palms with germicide like hibiclens for 3 minutes specializing in the front, back, between palms, less than nails (quite) and as a lot as wrists. allow it sit down for 2 minutes earlier rinsing. Use a timer. Dry on sparkling paper towels and placed on sterile gloves (nitrile or latex). you are able to also submerge the needle in isopropyl alcohol for an same era of time. although enable to dry so that you do not get a sting. As a advice, use a syringe/blood draw needle of a minimum of 20 gauge if not 16 so that you've a large sufficient hollow, or the tissue will tear once you attempt to emphasise the jewellery in. in case you make the most of a stitching needle it is going to damage a lot worse because of how they are made. a stitching needle is gentle to a level and made to slip via fabrics devoid of snagging. dermis would not artwork like that. in case you make the most of a stitching needle, you tear the tissue and it hurts like hell. A syringe/blood draw needle has edges and encompasses a level, causing it to slice microscopically into the tissue, causing a lot less damage and discomfort. the jewellery should be boiled or soaked in alcohol as well. Oh, prevalent eating alcohol would not count number, so do not change vodka or something for this. there is different stuff in it that ought to reason inflammation and deliver about an infection. sparkling the area of ear with betadine or iodine, rubbing the entire section for a minimum of five minutes and allow to dry. flow a minimum of one inch out in all guidelines to stay clear of an infection (this may contain the back and inner curve of the ear). enable to sit down down for 10 minutes. (are you able to spot the timing in this?) ensure that you do comprehend the position you want to pierce, mark it with a pen (ink pen). Then taking the sterilized needle out of the sterile pyrex dish inclusive of your sparkling and gloved palms and carry out the piercing. Having some different person do it helps, because you want to be able to carry the ear firmly even as aiming, that is perplexing to do in a reflect. or you should flow to a professional, have them do all that, and also you'll lay there and visualize how efficient your newly pierced ear will seem. wish that permits.

Nothing will happen. As long as you keep it clean, you'll have a nice piercing.
