To me its crazy reading these things, to me Athiest are guilty of everything they dislike about Christianity and accuse christians of. You criticize our beliefs and practices, we're foolish to you and you make that clear. You try to prevent us from practicing our beliefs in public...you try to keep christian messages off television out of schools...basically, you act as if your way is the true and only way and you try to impose that way on others and ridicule those who do not share your views, you are not open minded, if it can't be scientifically explained you can't accept it.
You generalize Christians as a bunch of hypocrits but do you recognize the hypocrisy in your own actions?
Personally I don't believe this type of attitude attract people to any point of view whether its christian, muslim, atheist, etc.
That's just my impression from reading alot of questions and answers, what do you think?

I'm not judging I'm asking a question based on my experience on this site. I am generalizing, that's not to say that there are not exceptions but for the most part this is what I gather. I believe in the right of free speech and I think that extends to whoever, whenever through whatever venue they chose. As far as television/media the more diverse the producers, writers etc are the more diverse the content will be and if you feel your point of view is under represented then instead of trying to prevent someone else from expressing themself why not be creative, develop your own channels...etc. Black people had to get BET and TVOne to see images on televsion that they can relate to. As far as taxes, religious/political/social organizations are considered not for profit organizations and I don't think that should be an issue b/c anyone could benefit from that. Separation of church and state...that's a whole other issue but in the end we elect our leadership.

Why would others practicing their religion bother me. I don't have to participate. When I was in school I remember having Jehovah witnesses in my class who did not participate in the pledge of allegiance, that is their right and anyone elses who determine it violates their beliefs, just like it would be mine to do the same.
No one made them feel less for not participating. In the end my point is more about Respect then anything else. and I definitely try to live and practice what I believe.

We are not being hypocritical. If we were indeed being intolerant of christians, then so be it. We are not being hypocritical. Hypocritical would be something like telling other people that being intolerant is wrong and then doing it ourselves. You know...what most christians do..hate to break it to you, but the vast majority of christians are nothing but a walking breathing contradictoring hypocritical society. Because YOU all preach one thing, and live another. You ALL use that disgusting "word of god" to back you up in all your decisions, yet pick and choose what you should follow and when its right and when it isnt. It really is life's disgust to watch the church try to hold eveyone else by the balls. IT IS DISGUSTING. period. no if and or buts about it. And if you are going to call that intolerant...damn straight....your point?

"you act as if your way is the true and only way"

well honey, its not the only way but so far guess what? its been the only TRUE way. Please look up the meaning of true and truth before you carelessly throw that around.. We do not ridicule all those who, do not share our views. we dont walk around all day long obssesing over what you are doing and how to make the world christian free. the ridiculing might occur when certain subjects are brought up..and guess what we are in a forum subjects are bound to come up and get ridiculed. Christians do the same thing. The only difference is.....

atheists dont walk around claiming otherwise.

Atheists do not try to prevent you from practising your beliefs. Since the percentage of Atheists to Christians, or any other religion is very low, they have very little clout. However, why should one religion, such as Christianity, be allowed to force their beliefs upon others, such as on television and in schools. True one can change the channel on TV but what about kids in school? They do not have the option of leaving the classroom if prayers are forced on them. If people want religion in school then they should send their children to private schools. Not only should there be a separation between religion and state but also between religion and public schools and the workplace.

SLOW WAYYY DOWN, please, for your own sake. There is such a thing as a division between Church and State. The reason that was put into place was so that no religious belief was superior to another and also that we keep the law of the land separate from religious laws. If you think of the Crusades and the disaster that brought upon the entire religious world believers against believers against pagans against atheists, you have to admit it's really sad.
As to your generalizations about atheists (I am not atheist but I am not Christian in the strictest sense), I really have to disagree with you. You are holding the exact same positions against some of them that they hold against you. It's not everyone. I know atheists who are very respectful of other people's beliefs, they only ask for respect in return. Science is very important but it's not the only important thing. Division of Church and State is an absolute must. Please don't adopt the same rigid attitudes as those you disagree with. It only perpetuates a ridiculous cycle of who is right and who is wrong. Who cares? Love another. Be kind. Don't judge. Don't go in the direction you are currently going in it only leads to misery. Blessings to you.

So you would have no problems if all religions were allowed to be practiced in public? No problems with all religions practiced in schools?

See the problem is Christians think that only Christianity should be in schools. Heaven forbid their child learn about Muslim, Hindu, Pagan, Atheist beliefs!

I see loads of judgemental pricks on the religious followers side, especially when it comes to talking about nonChristians, homosexuality, lesbian, and transgendered people on Yahoo Answers.

I don't care what your beliefs are, just stop pushing them on others.

The ONLY way to ensure free and equal practice and treatment of all religions is to make sure you Christians don't control everything. In order to do that, YOUR messages need to be removed from places such as televisions just as much as anyone elses.

You may not like it, but its still the truth.

Otherwise, one religion gets favored over another and thats not right.

You people have your own channels, so why are you trying to put commercials and tv shows on other peoples channels? If Wiccans or Muslims did that, you'd freak and we'd have a blow out in the courts.

You want the right to practice your religion in public, but what about the Pagans? They can't have that right without you people harassing the hell out of them by picketing and protesting.

You Christians are the only ones that think you're not harming anybody. Everyone else thinks differently.

Removing your ability to push your religion on others, also removes others ability to do the same. Therebye ensuring equal treatment for all.

The ONLY way to do that is for Atheism to control everything. Everything must be secular so that all religions are free to practice their religion IN PRIVATE as they wish to practice it.

Anything else completely violates the freedom for which all the free countries stand.

I hope you can see that someday.

I'm not an atheist or a christian, I'm pagan and I believe in God. But after reading both atheist postings and christian postings, there is alot of ignorance on both sides. No one belief is better than another. I'm sorry but your posting is a little ignorant of all beliefs, not just atheist beliefs.

I believe science has proof to alot of things they talk about and religion does not..However you are free to believe whatever you want. I just get very upset at the idea of State mixing with religion when in the constitution it states clearly :Separation of Church and State-The reason some people get upset based on your views is because people (like myself) are so tired of people like Christians,Mormons, and Jehovah's Witnesses trying to force their made up religion on the rest of us "FREE-Thinkers"

Yes, I get that impression.

Seems like it has become fashionable to mock Christianity, but there aren't many out there who are bold enough to mock Jews, Muslims or Hindus in the same way. They are just following an unfortunate fad.

The person who said that atheists don't single out Christians in particular is being disingenuous. These are people who believe everything they read in the newspaper, everything they read in their school textbooks, but disdain those who believe in the Bible.
