I'm an african american boy in my late teens and would like to grow my hair for braids, but it takes so long. Any tips on how to get it to grow faster?

no but u can help keep the hair you grow from breaking which makes it seem like it isnt growing. people think black hair doesnt grow, it grows the same as every other race its just our hair is dryer and breaks more so therefore it seems as if lil growth is appearing but anyways these things will help, it helped me.

*take vitamins, a multivitamin will do or take hair, skin, and nail vitamins.

*keep you hair clean

*drink and eat healthy, you know, also exercise

*massage your scalp 1-2 times a day, (if u are caucasian or asian you probably do this everyday since you wash your hair almost everyday) it circulates blood flow, which helps stimulate growth

*keep your ends trimmed every 6-8 weeks, it doesnt make your hair grow, but you are keeping your split ends in control by keeping them cut, split ends break easier, they will break and make your hair look bad as they fall out, that happened to me mine were really bad, and my hair looked thin and terrible, now that i keep them cut my hair is growing long and it is thick.

but BRAIDS is the best way to grow our hair, i mean do all those things i mentioned and keep your hair braided you should see possibly 6 inches in one year maybe more , the fact that you wont be combing and brushing it everyday will be a big help in keeping the hair you grow!!!!

i didnt keep my hair braided but i did those things i mentioned and my hair grew 4 inches in a year and that was with my ends being trimmed so actually i grew about 6 inches but kept 4 inches on my head!!!!!

Take the supplement Biotin. It will ever so slightly increase you hair growth. I've been taking it for years and my hair has stopped thinning and grows about 2/3" a month. Plus it will strengthen your nails.
Incidently, it was on the nat'l news a couple of nights ago.

Hair loss affects both men and women. Here are some natural remedies that can help boost hair growth: https://bitly.im/aMLeJ While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

Keep your hair trimmed. Cutting off the split ends, etc. every 4 weeks or so will help it grow longer. The damaged part at the end is what splits and breaks and keeps it from growing.

Calcium. If you were a female I'd say prenatal pills, they help your hair and nails grow, but since your male...take calcium!
