I am a spiritual person and thrive on spiritual information. However, have not used the internet before. Can you give me any reccommendations of genuine sites and resources.

I feel the same way, i am trying to find answers spirtutaly!
Books i have read , and i have just brought which you mind find interesting.

also i am reading a book called " The Celestine Prophecy" i was told the book was very helpfull and spirtutal but i have only just started that as well.

I don't know that it falls strictly in to the category of self help, at least not in the Dr. Phil, Stephen Covey, Wayne Dyer sort of way, but "The Wisdom of Insecurity," by Alan Watts is really good. Amazon.com link:
