seriously, i mean what does erasing a post really do here?

what they delete it and you may loose points for it? (not sure)

or maybe after enough time someone has to spend a whole 30 seconds to create a new yahoo answers account.

Seriously- its stupid on both ends. I've only reported people who said they were reporting people- religious and athiest/agnostic alike.

Is it necessary to be a freaking tattletale/rat?

if it offends you that much don't read it. it will be on page 2 or you can just click to the main section and not read the answer. or give it a negative vote to close the box.

its really not hard.

obviously if it goes beyond the valley of good taste such as sending offensive personal messages through email to you directly or trying to solicit sex from a minor, I can even see the porno avatars.

It's small minded. People with integrity and self respect don't report others. It's Yahoo's job to moderate their boards. You report people on here then you're a petty minded sh!t of a human being and that's the bottom line. The idea of reporting someone doesn't even cross my mind.

Unless the rules have changed, 2 points are taken for a thumbs down. I don't think that reporting someone costs any points. I've observed 3 reasons people report. #1. When guidelines have been blatantly broken, i.e., epithets, profanity etc. (I feel these SHOULD be reported--let's at least try to clean this up.) #2. When someone simply doesn't agree with the answer regardless of how civil the answer is. #3. What I call the "Hate Club"...reporting the same people over & over because of general dislike of that person. Of course it can be stupid, but don't forget, it's sometimes a valid responsibility.

I had someone report one of my answers because they didn't like it. I have seen many answers on here that were not constructive. I try to answer constructively. As for questions I have not asked a lot, and they probably have been difficult ones. I do have one to ask and will probably get reported by some wine baby.

I agree with you. I've reported two people, one for really foul language and the other put a link that went to porn. Those are uncalled for especially since kids come on here. Everyone has a right to express their opinions and everyone has a right to agree, disagree or ignore.

May God Bless you.

I'll only report those questions that are hate-filled and/or insulting. Being critical does not make that standard. Too many questions get reported for being critical, but honest.

I've only reported twice, once was when a woman sent me a harrassing email after an honest answer to one of her questions, the other was for a man who talked about child molestation. That's why. IF you don't like it, don't ask.

I agree with you, although I do report the "go here to make money" posts. I worry that some of the Christians are naive enough to believe them and I want their minds to be enlightened, not their wallets to be lightened.

I wish they'd bring back the thumbs up or down for the questions as well as the answers.

I only report the ones with porn pics in their avatar--some people seem to think this is their own personal reality TV show and thr report button is how they vote people off the island

I'm a tattletale.

I've reported people who have said vulgar things about children....tried to chat children up....etc.

I also report people who are cruelly vulgar and hateful to another group of people.

I don't care about the rest of the crazy stuff....but those are by hot buttons.

Some people need a lesson shoved up their butt. And thats why I report. If its insulting, if its obviously baiting and trolling (like entering a Wiccan thread just to post bible passages), if its racist, if it promotes really bad behavior (like taking arms against the Muslims), etc.

People need to know thats not ok, regardless of whether they personally think it is.
