No it's not bad at all. I hate pain myself and I have 4 tattoos. My husband can't stand needles and he has 5 tattoos. As for the pain, it all depends on you pain tolerance. Everyone is different so it's hard to explain how it feels.
Also, tattoos do NOT cause skin cancer...to much exposure to UV rays that causes skin cancer!
Hope this helps and good luck!

i don't love pain and it's not the same kind of needle that shots are done with (i am terrified of those kind of needles) the pain differs on how well you tolerate pain and where you get the tattoo. also how large or small the tattoo is. my first three tattoos were pretty small and didn't hurt that bad but the longer you have to sit there the more it hurts. BUT so many people have tattoos so it must not hurt that bad or they wouldn't go back for more... right?

It was not nearly as bad as I was expecting! I was concerned as to what the pain level was going to be with my first tattoo, I totally psyched myself out, it was not at all what I thought. Most of the time it was annoying, like someone scartching a sunburn, there were a few parts that made me cringe, but all in all it was not bad, and as soon as they took the needles away I didnt feel a thing. I was so happy with the results! It also helps to go to an artist that has a "light hand" (as opposed to a heavy handed artist) a light handed artist will not hurt as bad but will take a while longer, while a heavy handed artist can get it done in one shot with a little more pain involved. I would ask your friends family etc who are tattooed for some good referrals for light handed artists. Go for it! But if you are scared of needles to the point you might pass out our bite your artists, I suggest you stay away from permanent tattoos because it IS several needles piercing your skin over and over and over...
I hope you do it though!

It hurts when they start and then it's fine. Then when it's almost done it hurts. At least that's how it is for me. Also, it depends on the area where your getting tattooed. Some areas are more sensitive then others. I'm also scared of needles. I freak out when the nurse whats to draw blood or give me a shot but I"m just fine with getting tattooed. Guess, I'm weird that way.

It depends on the size and location of the tattoo. I have a large one on my shoulder and it was quite painful at times...especially when the heavier outlining lines were being done. Some bonier areas of the body (ribs, hands, feet) can be more painful than other areas. If you hate pain and are scared of needles, then I would probably say that you shouldn't get a tattoo. It will hurt.

Its not that bad. A lot of people I know are scared of needles but they have no problems getting a tattoo, they just don't look when they are being tattooed. I'm sure you'll be fine, just relax.
Oh and its hurts, but not THAT bad.

No. It's not that bad. Try to find a cool artist to do it. They're usually good at taking your mind off the pain during the tattoo. Afterwards it feels like a sunburn for a few days. But pick a design you can live with. It's permanent!

First let me say Crazykarm is a tard. That being said, it is different for every one. Some areas are more tender than others. I have 24 tattoos, the ones on my ears made me cry, the ones on my arm were a piece of cake, the dragon on my chest was not pleasant. I'm sure you get the point. For most people the outline is the worst part. Go with something small for your first one. My best friends brother walked around with the word "MOTH" on his arm for years cause he said it hurt so bad he couldnt get the "ER". But then you see people with full body suits. You might get one and say "whats the big deal?"

Seriously, why do people ask this question? Someone is going to take a needle (or a bunch of little needles if they do color shading) and poke your skin. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. My tattoos felt like someone was scratching a horrible sunburn.

It depends on your pain tolerance as well as the placement. I've heard people relate it to having a needle dragged through their skin, cutting it open. I've also heard it compared to being licked repeatedly by a cat. No one can tell you how it will feel for you.
