I answered another question which inspired to me to post one of my own. I'm going to post part of my answer:

Number one on my list of things that piss me off today: People who who say that we must accept the entire Bible at face value or we are not accepting all of God, or Christ. I don't doubt that the Bible is a guiding tool given to us by God. But why would our Creator give us such amazing minds if he didn't intend on us using them? Why would we be made with such an inherent questioning nature if he didn't want us to seek out our own truths by becoming closer to him and using the gifts that he gave us?

Some people never look past the Bible for answers. But is that what God really intended for us??

I highly doubt that God didn't want us to grow and evolve or develop compassion for everybody--I think he'd be very disappointed in his own followers

this is tough but I will try
we are to accept the whole Bible as true BUT we are to question and seek the truth - the way I like to view it is that everything in the Bible is the Word of God so it all has to be true - but does that mean it literally happened, we already know for sure that parables did not literally happen so this is not something foreign to the Bible- I will use Noah as an example - did the story of Noah litteraly happen - I dont think there is enough evidence out there to say for sure yes or no but since it is the Word of God there is truth within the story - I mean there is a truth that can be applied to our lives today - does it affect my walk with God or how I live my life if I believe that Noah was real or not - I dont think so - but it does affect my life if I apply the lesson learned from the story of Noah to my life - that is the important part

I feel the same way alot of the time, and then i just want to try and believe the Whole Bible at other times.
Sometimes I feel like the Bible has been changed, by the (Catholic) Vatican, to be able to more easy manipulat and "control" the "masses".
Then sometimes I feel like there was much "changed, or lost " to wrong Interpretations", of the Word.
There is a "lady preacher" on at 10 pm, on the west coast.
She breaks down the meaning of "original, Greek/ Hebrew Texts"...Melissa something, I want to say Scott.
I just happened to be "channel Surfing" when, I suppose God brought me to her.
She was speaking like seven languages, and saying/ teaching what the Bible really said, the first time...
Well Hmmmm.
Who knows.
It is possible that it was changed or manipulated, to control people.

In Deuteronomy, God had made a decree to give to His people, A Blessing and A Curse, A Blessing if you live according to His commands and teachings. A Curse if you defy His Laws.. Those are only two conditions that we will meet according to our choice in the path of life we will take. Meaning our destiny will be by our own making. Our path will be by our own choice. So there is no mistake that we really are all given the FREE WILL. His Blessing if we do things righteously. His curse if we do it the other way around. His Curse therefore is not His wrath but rather negative effect or the harvest of what bad seed we sow within us. He just meant that since we choose to live our life the way He did not approve, He will turn His back and not listen to our calls in time of the crisis we meet in our lives. However, to all His prophets in the Old Testament, He is consistent in telling us to repent and live. He did not even say to wait for Jesus or someone who will save you from your sins. In Ezekiel 18, you will find that the only thing to do is save ourselves. To live in that, does not necessarily make Jesus as our saviour because from Jesus lips himself, he said he came only for the lost sheep of Israel. Matthew 15:24.
