This is not answerable because there is so great a variety. A great mild cheese is mozzarella. If you like strong tastes, then bleu cheese is good. For salty, cheddar is delicious.
Then there are sandwich cheeses like Velveeta and Cream cheese. If you are on a diet, the low fat cottage cheese is good.

Just one suggestion because there are so many! I love those baby Bonni Belles (it's a brand of cheese). The mozzarella is great for snacking or cooking.

Silly question!! For what and whom?? I prefer smoked gouda or edam for cheese and crackers but Gruyere cheese for French Onion soup. It all depends on what it's for and your taste buds.
