I'm a student and didn't file the 1040 EZ for my part time job last year. I know I was supposed to get like $600 (roughly) back. Is there a fine or penalty if I do both this years and last years? Will I not the my $600 or get less? How does it work? Thanks in advance.

I'm also supposed to get about $900 for the taxes to file for this year. Will I get it combined, or not the whole thing? Thanks again...

No you must mail the 2005 return, only current the current tax year can be electronically filed.

If you didn't file a return for 2005 it is not to late to do so. If you are due a refund there will be no penalty for filing late.

Your 2006 return is separate from 2005's. If you file both returns this year, you'll get two separate checks, one for each year.

You can e-file your return for 2006 but must file a paper return for 2005.

You can file up to 4 prior years if you failed to do so timely. There's no penalty involved if you were due a refund. If you owe, penalties and such are calculated for you. Prior years cannot be combined into one refund, each is treated separately. Also, you have to file prior years as paper filing, no electronic filing.

you have to do separate forms for last year, but it is no problem. call the irs and get them mailed to your house

there is not major probem since you are due to receive a refund, when it's bad that you haven't filed is if you owe because the IRS charges very steep penalties.

take care of it, it'll be money in your pocket and you'll be relieved of the stress of it hanging over your head
