I have always been told to "dress for the job you want, not the job you have" and I believe that this is true. Say that you currently work in an office with many cubicles of people doing the same work as you, and the dress code may be semi-casual (i.e. wear something nice, but not dressy) If you wear maybe business casual (suit pants or skirt and a button-down shirt), you will stick out from your other co-workers possibly for future promotion, simply by the way you dress.

An easy way to imitate the people who you think is successful and follow their style. You may not be able to afford the same clothes, but you can imitate what they are wearing. On the job, it helps to dress like the bosses, if you want to be noticed and move up.

Dress in a neat, professional manner. No low cut tops, stilettos, or anything revealing (or you won't be taken seriously). Also, tend to be on the side of overly dressy vs. under. It will impress your employer.

make sure you have lots of time to get ready so you aren't stressed/rushing. iron all of your garments, shower, do your hair--whatever it takes to feel your BEST. when you feel good about how you look, it's one less thing to worry about.
