a very dear friend gave me this recipe when i got married twenty years ago and i make it all the time . i am a mother of two picky kids and an even pickier husband and if it pleases them it will please anyone .the recipe is so incredibly easy and takes very few ingredients. in a bowl put 1-1half pounds of stewing beef cubes(uncooked) 1 med chopped onion (optional),1 reg can of cream of mushroom ,1 reg can cream of chicken and 1 regular can of cream of celery.thats it . mix it all up (not a very pretty color )place it in a lightly greased casserole dish (glass preffered ) with either a tight fitting lid or cover it up with aluminum foil tightly.bake in oven at 350 for 2and 1/2 hours .dont peak---serve over noodles . when its done it turns a beautiful light brown and its simply delicious and so easy he will think you slaved hours over it ,i serve it with a green salad .hope you enjoy this thanks

My boyfriend loves Beef Stroganoff, so I decided to find an easy way to make it for him. I found the recipe from Emril, it uses ground beef insteadthough and its really good. I added a few seasonings myself to give it a little more flavor.
Beef Stroganoff Hamburger Dinner in a Skillet Recipe courtesy Emeril Lagasse, 2005
1/2 pound lean ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil
1/4 cup chopped yellow onions
1 cup sliced white button mushrooms
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1/4 pound small elbow macaroni or wide egg noodles, cooked
2 cups beef broth
1/4 cup sour cream
Grated white Cheddar, optional
Chopped parsley, for garnish
Season the beef with the salt, pepper, and Essence.
In a large cast iron skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the seasoned beef and cook, stirring, until well browned and all pink has disappeared. Drain off any excess oil in the skillet.
Add the onions and cook, stirring, until soft, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the mushrooms and garlic and cook, stirring until the mushrooms have released their juices, about 2 minutes. Add the macaroni (or egg noodles), beef broth and sour cream. Add seasonings as desired. Cook, stirring, until the mixture thickens slightly, 5 to 6 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and spoon the mixture onto 2 large plates. Sprinkle each portion with the cheese, if desired, and chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Its a really good and easy recipe and I just added a few thing and took a few things out, depends on what you like.

Beef Stroganoff:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 1/2 pounds sirloin steak, trimmed of all fat and sliced into very thin
1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
1 large onion, chopped
2 10-ounce packages white mushrooms, sliced
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 14 ½-ounce can beef broth
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 cup low-fat or regular sour cream
1 12-ounce package extra-wide egg noodles, cooked
Heat the oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the sirloin, browning it (in batches if necessary). Remove and set aside. Place the caraway seeds (if using) and onion in the Dutch oven. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is transparent, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook until soft, another 8 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, and salt until well blended. Add the sirloin and broth, stirring to combine. Simmer until the meat is very tender and about half the liquid remains, 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the parsley and sour cream. Serve over the egg noodles.
Yield: Makes 6 to 8 servings

1 Tbsp. butter
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 tsp. minced garlic
1 10.75 oz. can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 cup (8 oz) sour cream
1 jar (6 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained
2 Tbsp. ketchup
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
In a large skillet, saute beef in butter until no longer pink; drain. Add onion and garlic; cook for 3 - 4 minutes or until onion is tender. Stir in the soup, sour cream, mushrooms, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce; heat through (Do NOT boil). Serve over noodles.
I bet you could try this recipe with ground beef instead of sirloin and I bet it would taste good.

This isn't the recipe I use, but it looks like what you are looking for:
BEEF STROGANOFF
1 lb. ground beef
2 tsp. ketchup
1 (8 oz.) box macaroni, sea shell
2 tsp. chopped green pepper
1 c. sour cream
1 pkg. beef stroganoff mix (French/McCormick)
1 can mushroom soup
1 sm. onion, minced
Sliced or grated cheese
Boil macaroni by box directions. Brown beef in frying pan with onion and green pepper. Sprinkle stroganoff mix over brown beef. Add sour cream, can of mushroom soup, ketchup. Drain macaroni and mix with stroganoff mixture. Pour into 2 quart baking dish, top with cheese (if you like cheese) and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.
