Not usually, but you will be considered a "Scofflaw". You will not be able to register any vehicle. Your insurance will be canceled. The City Marshall can impound your car. And, yes you can be arrested and brought to court.....Go to Parking Violations Court and make a deal to pay or get a lawyer to appear to try and reduce the total amount owed and a payment schedule.....remember, many states are involved in "reciprocity" which means they share information through DMV records.

No you cannot. Althought in New York a vehicle may be towed if it has overdue parking fines exceeding a specified balance. You may consider figuring out what your balance is and wher eyou stand in congruence with the maximum unpaid balance.

Yes you can! If they go unpaid for awhile a warrant will be
issued for your arrest and or when you go to renew your
drivers lic or register your car you won't be able to.
Unless they are paid.
So in the long run you don't pay them and you get stop for
a motor vehicle violation, and they have a warrant for you....then its to
jail!

I don't think the police are going to come knocking at your door in the middle of the night. Parking tickets are not moving violations.
