From 1965 to 2001 - 3523 people were murdered, 1855 civilian, 1123 security forces, 394 alleged Republicans & 151 alleged Loyalists. Hope that helps!!!!!

A note about Pinkie down below. He can go on about this romantic notion that the British forces were peace-keepers in this stste, even though he knows they contributed as much to the problems in this state than anyone. The recent revelations about collusion backs me up on that. As for stories about pick-axe handles, lol. I think he thinks he served in Basra. If he wants to talk about torture, he can ask innocent Nationalists who were thrown out of helicopters from 6 feet as to get forced confessions etc out of them. That's the problem about this country - everyone thinks they were the innocent party, especially the British forces - what a joke.

Caspersmoke2000 - Ulster Defence Force, also known as the UFF, DUP, RUC, UDA, PSNI etc etc etc. Get the gist?

"troubles" I love that word that's like Trouble outside a pub on a Saturday night or something minor...In the WAR in Ulster a lot of Soldiers were killed some in battle against the IRA and UDF and some kidnapped tortured and murdered.....
When I did my N.I training we were told about an incident that happened in the 70's details given but I will not disclose for the sake of any family members.

A young soldier 18 years of age got cut off from his patrol who were attacked by civilians the patrol bugged out and left him behind he was held by a gang of angry women/ housewife's who probally had children about his age, until a IRA gun man arrived who was about the same age as the soldier and was then executed on the spot.....The young soldier was said to be crying and calling out for his "Mum" throughout his capture....

And that is one of the better ones, I wont go into the tale about the 17 year old soldier strapped to a table and had a pick axe handle....Guess the rest..

Civilian casualties were many very unfortunate but as they say casualties of war....

Terrorist casualties...More the better personally don't care hope they all rot for what they did to us and their own....

There have been over 3000 deaths in the current conflict since 1969.
Its hard to get an accurate figure on military fatalities.
