Do we need God to be moral? Do we need to believe in God to be moral? Do we need religion?

No, we don't need a god or any religion to be moral. Morality comes from common sense, or at least it should. Some people seem to only be moral because they're afraid of hell, and the fact that they might not still be moral if they didn't believe in it is rather scary.

Whatever is in us, God put it there. Jesus said, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?" The soul is eternity within us which connects us to God, His morals, His good sense, His common sense and our ability to know good and evil. We don't need religion. But we need God for everything.
Without God we are nothing. The very life in us is given to us by God. Only man has the capacity for eternal life, fellowship, moral discernment, self-consciousness, speech, and worship. The soul is the part of us that is life. It is the eternal portion of us. it is the spirit portion of us. It is the God portion of us.

Morality did not stem from religion. Actually, religion is far from what many people would call moral. Moral views should come from the social ties, traditions, and values we develop throughout our lives, not from fear of punishment or hope of reward, that is not morality.

From the prison population ratio, it seems like it is religious people who need help in morality.

do we need "christian" god you mean.
Right?

Anyway, it turns out that christians can be as rotten a bastard as anyone and atheists can be as kind as saints. AND the other way around.

So I'd say morals are completely independent from a god concept. It's a societal concept.
