Quit trying to explain it to them brother. People who have never served will never understand the war for us is not about politics. Trying to explain it to them is wasting your time, the perfect example is the guy who cried about paying money, he has never cried for a fallen friend. Keep doing your job and trust your training and fellow Soldiers to get you through the battles, not the whiners and protesters.

RY,
First of all I want to thank you for your service. Wrong or right soldiers are doing their job which is doing what the President tells them to do.

However, being that this is the USA and not Communist China you should be at least a little bit happy that you live in and fight for a country that people are allowed to freely speak out against the government. In some countries you end up in jail or dead for speaking out against those in power. It doesn't mean that the protesters are right(correct) or wrong, but they have the right(ability) to do it.

We should never take that away or say that people are anti-american for doing something that the founding fathers fought so hard to create.

EDIT----
There was no way to know you were a British Soldier, so I'm sorry that my post doesn't fully correlate to your situation.

As an American soldier, i completely stand by, you, nobody knows what really goes on there, the news isn't allowed to cover everything, and the sights you see, will forever haunt your mind, i served the first gulf war. I was a 91 papa, and i tag 119 marines toes, i cried every time, i have never forgotten them, and i never will. Thank you for your service, and i solute you.

I don't think it's fair to lump every American into one category. I have 3 cousins currently serving in the US Army- 2 just came back from Iraq tours, and a 3rd is on his way there. If people want to protest to bring their family members home, they have that right BECAUSE OF OUR ARMED FORCES.

World peace? Hmph, I can agree with you that it's a LONG shot so long as these radicals are running wild.

I'm sorry pal, but you don't get the reasoning behind some of the troop empathy your concerned about. Watching your services being used to serve the elite's business interests under the cover of terrorism and "American Military Prowess" is the sickening reality. So you do your job for these robber-barons and luckily you'll make it home in one piece, of sound mind. More than likely you won't. Your not equipped properly, your undermanned, under-paid, and upon your return home your Commander In Chief leaves you to the VA which he has gutted and neglected since day one.

What's a matter with some folks looking out for your better interest?

I know I'd be a p'od mutha fuucka if my job was to secure a bunch of morons that worked side by side with me proliferating war efforts knowing that they were making a 100k plus compared to my GI salary--How bout dem apples?

That's all wel and good if you want to be in a war-become a mercenary and hire yourself out. Unfortunately, it is my business as a taxpayer, as alot of my hard earned money is funding this atrocity, not to mention I believe it is morally wrong.

So what are you saying, American citizens are not permitted to have an opinion beyond the one supplied by our government? Sounds a lot like the dictatorship you guys are supposedly fighting AGAINST.

OH, shut the hell up! war is war??? i grew up in war and felt the imposed force and unjustified Imperialism. Don't think because you'''re there and killing innocent people, none of us knows what's going on. It'll be better if, some of you morons ask yourselves, why the hell am i killing? and what the hell am i doing here? so may be, that'll be your contribution to serving people and man kind.

You're very angry. Their bandwagon is supporting you.

By the way, it's hard to believe in world peace when there are trained killing machines being deployed half way across the world every few months, daily bombings all over the world that kill thousands, and corrupt leaders that force their countries into war even when more than half its population disagrees with it.

I have no wish to jump on any bandwagons. None of my family are in the army...so I don't give a toss.
I bet some poor mothers do cry though... when their sons or daughters come home in a body bag draped in a colourful design.
And for what?...Greed.

I hear ya, i try not to let it bother me, but im tired of people using us only as a political tool. Thats all we are to alot of people back home. They dont know what its like to lose someone in combat, they dont realize how tough it is to watch people protesting on both sides while we just try to survive.
