NIMBYism

I think they look OK. They'll look even better when the Arabs cut off our oil and Russia cuts off our Gas.

The Germans, (they seem to know a thing or two), have them all over. I couldn't believe how many I saw when we drove across towards Berlin. They didn't look too bad as they lazily rotated....the wind generators that is, not the Germans.

While the global warming alarmists bleat on about wind turbines, suggesting to us that they are the perfect answer to replace coal/gas power stations, the fact is that, as ever, they are misleading everyone by not telling people the whole truth.

For example, it would take a wind farm the size of Greater Manchester to replace a *single* power station, and you won't get a single watt of power when the wind isn't blowing.

While placing them offshore, where there is plenty of room, seems like a good idea, setting up that many wind turbines, and anchoring them in deep water, would be mind bogglingly expensive - possibly far greater than the cost of paying to fix the problems caused by global warming.

As ever, the problem is far more complex than it first seems.

I think that they're rather beautiful - but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I agree that there is a case to say that they do adversely impact the natural beuaty of the landscape - so, why don't they build them out at sea (over the horizon) so there can be no complaints - there's plenty of space out there and plenty of wind.

They are an eyesore, I have some just offshore and you can see them from Llandudno to Talacre. Not as bad as the Gas Rig but still an industrial installation.
Because of the way they work they inevitably have to sited in the most prominent position so you don't really have the option of ignoring them or camoflaging them.

We have the same problem where I live although we have some. I think that they are lovely to look at but alot of people think they are ugly and apparently they are really noisy although I have never heard them when i have been near.
