Why?

In my book:

Lust: is pretty much fun and something that should be enjoyed.

Gluttony: Isn’t the culture of the United States all about gluttony?

Greed: Is a great motivator of people. Again I don’t see it as a problem.

Anger/Wrath: Another useful tool. Focused and directed anger can solve a lot of problem.

Envy/Jealousy: This is a waste of time. Figure out what you want and get it. So yea I can see where this can cause some problems.

Pride: Pride is a virtue in my book. If you don’t consider yourself great you will never be great. Humbling yourself is a waste. Stand on your own two feet and don’t bow or beg before anything.

***Sloth***: Laziness is disgusting. Too many people refuse to get off their bottoms to work hard and succeed. Intellectual laziness is endemic in our society and I find is reprehensible.

I'd vote for sloth or gluttony.

Lust is a good thing, I don't consider it deadly at all, quite the contrary, it's enlivening. Without lust what's the point of (romantic) love?

Greed is about grabbing more out of life, without greed you would have no ambition.

Anger can be good as well, it can let you know you need to do something. It's better to be pissed off then pissed on. It's better to speak up then be trampled down.

Pride is all about self-respect. If you don't allow yourself to feel pride, you miss out on appreciating life, fully witnessing and enjoying the rewards of your efforts.

Then there's envy. I see envy as a barometer for recognizing one's deepest desires. Envy gives you a chance to find out what you truly want

You answered your own question, didn't you?

To me they are all powerful human motivators, even sloth. I will work hard for a few days in a row so that I can have a day or two where I just lay around. Of course all of them can be used for destructive motivation as well, and in that regard they are all kind of connected, one leading to another. Kind of a domino effect.

One, killing people is not good. Two, forcing children to believe that bologna of 'sin" is evil. Three, not keeping an open mind is evil.

Everything else is fine.

Why have seven deadly sins and 10 commandments? Those are the 17 ways people have lived throughout the 20,000 years that they have been alive as thinking individuals. Under these rules, one cannot possibly be a human.

Pride is the most reprehensibile.

Because:
It is a form of vanity or self importance over others.
It blinds you to others who may be in need of help
It prevents you from associating yourself from diverse groups
It makes you mean.

i think it is greed and like you i don't see it as a problem but that is because of the way the world is today people think that it is fine for us to be like this and money is the reasons that there is so much hate in the world everyone is out for themselves

Man, I'm torn between Anger and Jealousy.

Anger because I personally see the destruction it causes families.

Jealousy because I personally see the destruction it causes love relationships.

But...both are rooted in fear. So...Hmmmm

I agree with you. Sloth is the worse! Lazy people that take and take and use others but have no value.

None of these is most deadly because in the eyes of God all sins are equal and the same, but by man's standards, sexually abuse and killing of children is the worst case or most deadly sin. Because our society feels these are the people that should die first. But in the eyes of God-- you cheating or thinking about cheating on your taxes is as bad as any thing else, and the love of money really isn't on this list, maybe greed would fit.
But the worst sin that started all the others was pride of Satan so I would consider Pride as being the author of all the rest; Ezekiel 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
Ezekiel 28:5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:
Ezekiel 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Daniel 5:20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
Psalm 10:2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
Psalm 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Psalm 59:12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Obadiah 1:3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

In my book (yes that would be the Bible), all sins are wrong. Period. But, they can be forgiven if you put your faith in Jesus Christ.

John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but, to save the world through him.
