What is best photo machine to take Macro pictures(1 inch far)?

I need to take picture of little minerals . I am using a Nikon and it is OK, are there any other better lens?

Are you using a digital or film camera? Is it an SLR?

I use a Nikon 60 mm Macro (micro) lens and I think the results are great on both film or digital. Here are two samples taken with this lens:
