The real answer is "yes", but for clarification I think it's always best to define your terms.

If by "real christian" you intended to mean someone who lives a sinlessly perfect life, completely obedient to every command in the Bible without flaw, never falling to the temptations all around us to sin in areas of pride, lust, greed, anger, bitterness, self-dependence, etc., then I would respond, "No", and add that:

1) Christ never promised us we would be able to live without any sin this side of glory, rather He instructed us to acknowledge we WILL sin and when we do He is our advocate (1 John)

2) Putting this kind of absolute expectation upon the believer disregards the grace of God, Christ's atoning work on the cross, and the essence of the Gospel and the need for believers to depend upon Him every moment (rather than depending upon our own strength),

3) it's not "real" (to use your own term).

However, if what you mean by "real Christian" is to remain wholeheartedly committed to follow Jesus, to follow Him no matter how hard life is, what suffering, pain, loss and tragedy befalls us - even the ones that are the direct result of our own sin, continue to draw near to Him for our every need and strength and support and care, and to continue to do this until the day He calls us home because we are motiviated by love for Christ because of Who He is and what He has accomplished for us, then I answer a resounding "yes" - even in today's culture and society, it is possible to run the race and finish it well, by His strength, provision, mercy and grace alone.

Great question. Best to you.

Yes. It's possible. Why wouldn't it be? Do you think that any of the sexual or moral temptations are any worse today then when the early church was formed?

There have always been and always will be until the end of time those that hate Christians, the Christian life and the belief in Jesus Christ. It's no different than 2,000 years ago.

We are called to the same standards of loving God, loving our neighbor, loving ourselves and worshiping God today as we were back then.

I am a catholic and It is possible, but unfortunately most Christians have fallen from that grace, we have become violent, discriminative towards others, judgemental, hypocritical, and above all our neglect to live by Christs wisdom in his teachings, and we still have the audacity to call ourselves Christians, we really do have a lot of cleaning up to do in order to get our real Christian respect back that's my opinion anyway.

Yes. I'm a real Christian. The word says we are IN the world, but are not OF this world. The ways of the Christian are completely opposite of the ways of the world. The world says "strive to be #1", and "it's all about me / self-gratification", but Jesus told us to die to self (i.e. self-centeredness) and humble ourselves. That does NOT mean we are to be doormats....it simply means we are to live our lives to please GOD, not MAN. God wants us to enjoy life, but to remember that we are only on earth for a brief time, so we are not to idolize the things of this world. For example: It's ok to have nice things; it's NOT ok to make having nice things the focus of our lives. The only way to be a real Christian is to develop and nurture a relationship with God. The only way to do that is to spend time with Him every day.

BTW - Starry eye.... have you ever READ the bible? Where do you get that Jesus never had a female disciple? He had MANY! In fact, the first people He appeared to after His Resurrection were FEMALES! Contrary to popular belief, women have played a very important role in His ministry from the very beginning!

Yes there are many true Christians who believe in Jesus Christ the God. who actually suffered the cruel lashes of the Roman bull whip cut and tearing into his flesh and blood. Who felt the clawing points of the cruel crown of thorns as they were pressed into his scalp. Who was made to bare the burden of the heavy cross as he was forced under the Roman whip to drag it stumbling through thr streets of Jerusalem. While the people jeered and cheered while his flesh was ripped to the bone by cruel Roman bull whips. As he struggled up mount Calvary completely exhausted he stumbled and another was made to take up his burden. Upon reaching the summit he was dragged back on the cross and his hands and feet were severely tortured by having steel spikes driven through them nailed to the cross with a heavy Romans carpenter hammer. then lifted into the air and the hilt of the cross plunged into an obis. as he hung there the remainder of his life giving blood draining from his cruel wounds he was stabbed in the side again by a roman sword. As the life's blood drained from him the Roman guards were casting lots for his garments. Still in all his excruciating misery he was able to pray. Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.

Yes you can! It's been said that it is hard to live saved. It really isn't. If you let God lead you and you follow His word, which is His intruction manual, you can live in this world without compromising yourself. We are not perfect but we must strive for perfection and live according to God's word. It says in His word to be holy as He is holy. If it was impossible He wouldn't have said it. Yes, we can be REAL Christians in today's society and not a fake imitation of one.

Yes, but expect to live on the streets a lot and be hounded and taunted, of course you were told that would happen!

Go out with NOTHING in your pockets, the shoes on your feet, you coat and cloak and a sword, ask for what you need, do twice as much as asked, when the door is slammed on you, brush the dirt off your shoes and keep walking.

Yes ma'am. It's called the spirit of God, the Holy SPirit keeps us. HE LEADS AND GUIDES US. Do we mess up? Yes ma'am!! But the thing I love about God is His mercy endureth forever. I'm a 25 yeard old mother of two, not married. I gave my life over to God and He has proved that He loves me. Even when I try not to know or act as if I can't comprehend it, He still loves us. I think we need to hear that more. The love of God will draw you to repentance. Repent means to turn away from. I always though repent meant to ask for forgiveness. SO I would still comiit fornication and lie and cheat and do all of those things, thinking that well I can just ask for forgiveness. But as I got in the Word and saw the love of God in my life. It made me not want to do wrong, and when I did, I was truly truly hurt that I hurt God. That's just like you know your mother loves you, and you do things that's not right by her. Although you've done it, she doesn't like it, but she loves you anyway. Once you see that her love never fails and still live on to you even though you mess up, then you strive to do right. You strive to do the things that pleases her. That's what we need to do for God. Let Him love up on us, then love Him back. He said if you love me you'll keep my commandments. He didn't mean well you can't love me unless you do everything I say. That's selfish, and God is not selfish, but what He is saying is I love you soooo much and my love will never fail you that when you realize it you'll want to keep my commandments, you'll want to stay in my path, you'll want to come after me. There's this scripture in the bible that says If my people, which are called by my name, will HUMBLE themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I the Lord thy God will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. That's a promise God made us. All He wants us to do is love Him enough to do this thing. WHen He say heal their land, that means sooo much. Means He can heal the diseases, poverty, racism, hatred, division, everything that ungodly and that will hurt His people, He said He'll heal it. I can talk so I'm sorry if this is alot. But thousands of people are on here reading. I just have to put these thoughts out there because one person can be changed by it. Every body you see hwo say they are a christian, my not be REAL!!!
