I usually drink one cup in a day, but when I misses that, I get the headache in the afternoon. My friends told me that it is the lack of caffeine which does not dilate the blodd vessels in the head, which causes the pain.

Yes, it is the lack of caffeine.
Once your body becomes accustumed to this drug it depends on it. Without it you will become tired, memory fog, irritable and headaches.
It ia hard to believe that this is happening when you miss only one cup. Most coffee drinkers drink coffee throughout the day. Your one cup must be strong.
I am caffeine sensitive and I make weak coffee and drink about 4 cups per day. If my coffee is too strong or I have too much I get the jitters and get light headed and my heart races.
We have taken up using a Perculator for coffee rather than the Drip Style. It seems to make better coffee and we can regulate the caffeine and make weak if we like. If we use less grounds in a Drip it taste awful.
Headaches are commin in those who need the lift from coffee if they miss their daily dose.

Your friend is right. Your body gets used to the daily dose of caffeine and when you don't drink the coffee, it goes into withdrawl. Though I am surprised that you only drink one cup and this happens. Caffeine opens up the blood vessels, that is why Excedrine is great for headaches, it has caffeine in it!

About the same thing happened to me when I had 2-3 caffienated drinks per day, possibly more. If I didn't drink any caffiene, I would also get a terrible headache. My friends and I called it "caffiene withdrawl." Sort of like a caffiene hang-over.

Yes, when you drink caffeine regularly your body gets used to it. Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor, and your body gets used to that, so when you don't have it, your body goes into a sort of withdrawl.

Sounds reasonable to me, but then that means you're addicted to caffiene. I'd get a doctor's opinion and try to wean myself off caffiene since it aggravates high blood pressure in later years.

Good Luck

yes sometimes lack of caffene can cause headaches but if you only drink one cup a day that's probably not the cause of your headaches i drink three a day and don't get headaches when i miss a cup maybe you should talk to a doctor abou the headaches

caffeine is an addictive chemical! It definitely effects the brain, similarly to nicotine. Try weening yourself off of it. It'll get better though, I promise!

Good luck!

You probably have a mild addiction to caffine.
Try withdrawing slowly for 2 weeks cutting your consumption slowly.
Do not "cold turkey."
Your tolerance will probably increase again but that is just part of being a
caffiene addict." there are much worse things to be addicted to then
Starbucks!
