Litter box, scoop and litter -- spend the extra cash and get good quality litter like Fresh Step or Tidy Cat because they do control odor better than cheap brands.

Water bowl and food dish -- stanless steel is best because they don't absorb odors from the food. Change water every day for your kitty; you don't like drinking stale water and neither will your cat.

If you get a kitten, do get some kind of food specifically for kittens.

Check out Pet Smart if you have one in your area; they have the best selection and prices in my area. You can get a ton of extras for your cat, but none of them are really necessary, like a bed (which he probably won't use!), toys, catnip, treats, etc. I would get a wand type toy for you to play with the cat; playing with the cat helps the cat bond to you.

Have fun with your new pet!

Make sure you buy scoopable litter. I tried regular clay litter when I first got my cat, it is so stinky!! Scoopable allows you to scoop urine and poo so you don't have to completely empty the box as often.

Make sure you buy a high quality premium food from a pet store. It is so much healthier and not any more expensive than cheap grocery store brands that are filled with by-products and corn filler. This will keep your pet healthy. Also feed your cat a bit of canned food once or twice a day and leave dry food out all day. The canned food has the extra nutrience and water that lacks from dry food.

litter box and litter, food, food dish, water dish,. toys and treats. Cats usually don't require a special bed and probably won't use one you buy. Cats like to sleep in your bed as they like warm places. Research your house plants if you have any as cats will chew greenery and some plants are poison. Plastic is a major allergy in cats so get a glass water and food dish. If getting a small kitten remember they are cute when they are sleeping but it is healthier for them if you don't wake them up. They are growing fast and playing and snooping hard so let them sleep. Cow's milk is very bad for cats digestive system and can cause watery diarreah so don't give your cat milk. Your vet may offer a safe dairy type product if you must treat with dairy. If you have any questions e-mail me through this site. Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of being owned by a cat

well.. i sugest letting it be an outdoor cat.... so you dont have to buy tons of cat litter box liners and have to pick up their poo...lett them be in the litter box for the first few weeks......then buy some toys...all kinds of toys ..youll never know for sure what they like...my cat likes plain and simple toys like foil scrunched up into a ball and string...then buy a cat brush. it doesn't matter if they have long hair or short .. they will still love to be stroked.. then buy flea medication [ just in case ] then buy wet food in cans and paper plates. also buy two cat bowls one for water and one for dry food [ to eat during the day ] .. and always buy cat nip scratching pads cats love them!!!! as for collars... i recomend a micro chip! my cat hates collars and almost chokes himself trying to get them off. they can also get attacked to things and choke them... and get a pet carrier for trips to the vet and various things like that...

thats about it... hope i helped!!!!!
hope your new cat is so adorable youll have loads of fun I SWEAR!
