Ive been a police officer for about a year now and Im growing tired of the hours and having to deal with the worst of the worst. Im wanting to start a family soon and would like a "normal" job in that I would get to see my family for more than just a hour or so a day. I have a BS in criminal justice. Do you have any suggestions as to any areas that would be good for me to investigate. Im looking for the private sector instead of gov't work...thanks

Have you ever considered maybe going into private investigations? You could also try insurance companies. You should have enough experience and schooling in investigations to investigate insurance claims. Bounty hunting is out of the question if what you are looking for is more home time with your family. You obviously got into the wrong line of work if you want any time at home.

start your own private investigation firm. You can do it out of your own home. Why did you become a police officer in the first place, surely you knew it was tough? Do you work for the city or the state? You may try getting hired on as a state trooper.

Parole Officer. You would deal with the same people but I think the context is better.
Also, this kind of job comes with many benefits because it is a government job. You get family health benefits, retirement etc.
Your degree would be helpful in this field too.

Why not apply to the FBI? In the private sector be a body guard for a celeb.

Maybe stick it out for another few years, and go to law school? You would make excellent pay as a prosecuting attorney. Maybe even a paralegal. Court systems run on typical business hours / days as well.

work for a security company or become a private security person for entertainers or actors...open your own security company
