Besides the scientific proven fact that meat is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, not good for our health, nor our spiritual wellbeing, do we really think we possess the God-given right to take the life of a helpless innocent animal, purely for the satisfaction of our palate? In God’s eyes all living entities are created equal, and there is ultimately no spiritual distinction except for the material body, the outward dress of the soul.
The greed-driven meat industry and so-called educated class of covetous people want you to believe that unless you eat meat you’re missing out on important vitamins and/or proteins. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is mainly due to our conditioned upbringing in a meat-eating family environment where our parents taught us from birth that meat is an indispensable part of our diet. So in that sense we’re not to blame, because of the imposed ignorance by our elders.
Through well crafted TV commercials and bill board ads, we are brainwashed and forced to think we cannot live without meat. Which in actual reality is dead rotting flesh with added chemicals to make the meat look attractive. As soon as an animal is slaughtered, its flesh begins to putrefy, and after several days it turns a sickly gray-green. The meat industry masks this discoloration by adding nitrites, nitrates, and other preservatives to give the meat a bright red color, and give it longer shelve life. This decaying flesh, along with its preservatives, continue to make our lives extensively miserable by causing dreadful invasive diseases like cancer and malignant tumors, etc.
Once we’re properly informed about these ‘hidden’ truths, it takes only a little smarts to figure out what these lowlifes are up to, and after—your money! We can only reasonably assume that these crooked people don’t have our best interest in mind. So for our own sake and well being, being largely innocent victims of circumstances, we better wake up, and change our eating habits. Plus, can all these distinguished people be wrong? http://www.happycow.net/famous_vegetarians.html

Yes. The factory farms and slaughter houses pollute the environment by mass producing animals. They abuse the animals and give them steroids and antibiotics which is horrible for the consumer to eat. Our bodies already have trouble digesting meat regularly without all of that. Even seafood consumption bad for the environment. Watch "Earthings" on Netflix. Eating meat is not as good for people as the industry says. I would consider buying meat from a local farmer that has free range animals and doesn't abuse them or be a vegetarian. There are many options to avoid being a part of the environmental destruction that the big companies cause.

Meat eating is not bad. Catholics abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent as a form of self-sacrifice that is imitation to the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf.
Meat used to be a luxury because it was had to come by, so giving up meat was to refrain from luxuries.
If you are a vegetarian, you should abstain from some food that you normally eat.

It's not. Just be sure you know which animal it is that you're eating the meat of because some animal meat isn't healthy for us.
But some people don't eat it because they find the killing of animal a cruel act (which is why God told us to kill animal only in a certain, kind manner); so they eat only plants.... Don't they realize that plants, TOO, hurt? Research it if you don't believe that plants have feelings too (they're living things, you know).

Check out hinduismtoday.com for their Jan/Feb/Mar issue... they've got a whole list of stuff on why being vegetarian is more beneficial. I don't judge others who eat meat, but being vegetarian/vegan is better for the animals and for your own health.

That is a relative statement. NOT everybody believes it is. I had dinner with the Dahli Lama, in Bloomington, iN, one time and he eats meat because his doctor tells him he NEEDS to. Vegan are entitled to their opinion, but I figure God gave me canine teeth for a reason. YBIC

depends on the meat. Bible tells us which animals to eat and which not to eat.
good example is the pig. Bible clearly states not to eat this animal yet today....bacon, ham, pork all comes from it.
I myself have been removing pork from my diet as much as I possible can. And honestly.....I am noticing a different....feeling better.
