It was only a stud, but it was sterling silver...should I worry?

Hopefully it wasn't a big earring! Watch your dogs behavior and bowel movements for a few days or so. If nothing check with the Vet, please don't use cotton balls as you may have more trouble then you bargain for. If all goes well, hopefully within a few days, THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

Watch the dogs behavior & appitite for any changes. Also watch the dogs stool for signs of blood or your earring. If the dog acts wierd or starts passing any blood, take the dog to a vet.

Mix up some cotton bals with canned dog food and feed it to him. (amount depends on size of dog). Just a dinner size amount.

This is what is done when dogs swallow needles.

The sharp objects get caught in the fibers of the cotton balls and are swpt out of his system the "normal" route.

Not really. Dogs eat just about everything - batteries, tube socks, remote controls....

Just watch him to make sure he continues to eat his food and drinks his water and he is going potty regularly.

If all that is okay.. you should get your stud back in a few hours. No harm but really foul.

Good Luck

Yep... it can puncture his intestines, which causes internal bleeding, which leads to... yeah. Take him to the vet. If you want to wait it out (its possible that its small enough that he'll be fine), then feed him lots of bread IMMEDIATELY to pad it while it goes through his system. And watch him closely... if he starts showing signs of loss of appetite, starts acting lethargic, or has any blood in his poop (it sounds gross, but I'd recommend taking a pair of rubber gloves and actually going through his poop, bit by bit, to take sure there isn't any blood anywhere in it), then RUSH him to the vet.

just keep an eye on the dog, they should pass through his system in the next day or so. if he seems to be acting weird or has any problems, get to a vet. otherwise, just let his body handle it and just mention it to the vet at his next regular visit.

please dont give your dog cotton balls this can cause an intestinal blockage. try feeding him nothing but light bread for a few days this will help him pass it with out harming him.
