I took Effexor for years and it helped me tremendously. Just make sure you take it everyday and even try to take it at the same time. If I missed a dose, I got sick, but everyone is different. Good luck!

Effexor is known as the "last resort" drug, given to people who are severely deeply, darkly, dangerously depressed and not responding to other treatments or drugs.
Effexor's Typical Side Effects: headache, nausea, dry mouth, sweating, sleepiness or insomnia, and diarrhea or constipation, weight gain, loss of libido and a host of other sexual dysfunctions. Most everything but the weight gain and sexual dysfunctions usually goes away within a couple of weeks.
Effexor's Not So Common Side Effects: Increased or lowered blood pressure, sweating, farting, anorexia, twitching, shock-like sensations. Also alcohol intolerance and/or alcohol abuse.
Interesting Stuff Your Doctor Probably Won't Tell You: Few, if any doctors, will discuss the possibility that Effexor could become a permanent part of your life, whether you like the results of Effexor or not. Getting off this drug is going to be nearly impossible. Effexor's symptoms are the absolute worst and the longest lasting of all serotonergic drugs. The discontinuation from Paxil is bad enough, it's much, much worse with Effexor. As you can see, missing only 1 day of this drug sends people into a tailspin. Very dangerous drug.

Effexor is not too bad. It actually had a stimulant in it to help battle the symptoms of depression. But do be regular with the dosage. If you miss a dose you will notice a physical sensation. it is effective, when combined with therapy. And when you need to get off of it is easy to slowly get off your dosage. Good luck with your treatment. It is not difficult to get off of at all. I took it 4 years and within a 8 week period was able to get off it completely without any side effects at all. I have been off of it two years now and feel great.

if you're certain that's from the Effexor, you may wanna verify with whoever perscribed it. i have been taking Effexor XR for added or less 2 years now. melancholy meds can artwork nicely for one, yet not the subsequent man or woman. i could not tolerate Zoloft via undesirable consequences. The Effexor worked for me instead. i'd propose Effexor in case you are able to ultimately artwork out this example. I blanketed a link with the obtainable undesirable consequences of this drug.

OK.......I was on for a while, it helps with anxiety..but not depression..it almost made me lose my personality a little b/c I was so low key...after a couple years of being on it, it started to make me CRAZY....and wow, don't miss a day, talk about being sick as CAN BE if you forget to take it.......I mean can barely function sick...it is probably ok for a couple months, but even then you get addicted and you can't just get off of it by yourself, you have to get off with doctors care and that was probably the worst 2 weeks EVER, I was sick miserable, my stomach started being screwed up when I got off...EWWWW..DEF don't recommend.......it turns on you, and if you drink...FORGET IT....it makes you crazy!!! HOpe this helps!GOOD LUCK

My husband was on it for awhile. He started working out a lot on it. He also had trouble sleeping though. I thought he acted less anxious but he didn't think so.
