I had a friend that had them for over 1 year. He made frequent visits to the ER and was on steroids off andon. He finally went to Stanford for a skin biopsy, and it came back "hives", without any unusual diagnosis. They finally went away after about a year. good luck

hives are definitely an allergic reaction. in order to get the right medication, there is a need to pinpoint what you are allergic too which is causing those hives. there is a test called the scratch test wherein the doc specifically an allergologist doctor will scratch several things on the skin and it will determine food, medication and all allergies. it really helps for allergic persons. then he will give a maintainance medication that to take in case any allergic reaction will arise. :-) allergies could be dangerous but they are very manageable once you know what you are allergic too. :-) God bless you. your baby should get this test. it's usually available on with an allergologist doctor and in some hospitals too.

I get hives from sunlight laundry soap & --of all things--ivory bar soap. maybe try changing the soaps you use if you haven't tried that already

See if it's actually or accompanied by shingles. If so, the anti-herpes drugs help fight it.
