I don't think that properly fitting steel toe shoes will cause any special problems. Most of the "dangers" of stell toe shoes are hogwash made up by people who don't like to wear the slightly heavier shoes or resent being told what type of shoes to wear to work.

Standing for 12 hours a day in itself may cause problems. Talk to your safety officer about getting anti-fatigue mats.

Standing on your feet 12 hours a day in any type of shoes can cause problems if they are not properly fitted and have a good supportive insole. Falling arches, lower back issues and knee problems are a few. Go to a reputable shoe store and have them fitted, and buy additional gel supports.
