Did the vet give you a reason for the vomiting and runs? If not then go back or see a different vet. If the pup is still sick after switching to dry food only, and especially if it is not eating at all, than the food isn't the problem.

It does sound like Parvo. Parvo can be found in the ground almost anywhere and puppies are very susceptible until they are old enough to be vaccinated against it. There is a very low survival rate in puppies who contract it.

Good luck and get it back to the vet immediately.

The bitting is normal. Puppies at that age will still chew quite a bit. I wouldn't worry about it; keep everything dangerous out of his way and continue to leave lots of toys around for himto chew on when he has the urge.

The vomitting is not normal. Once in a while, puppies will thow up, perhaps because of a sore tummy, or from having eatten too much. People food will definitly cause it as well if he has a sensitive stomach and isn't processing the greese properly. He's probably just not used to that kind of food and can't digest it properly.

However, if you have stopped feeding him all kinds of scraps and other non dog food products, it is NOT normal that he won't eat and is continually throwing up. It could be that he has an allergy to something in the food? Or he could be sick. I would strongly recommend taking him to the vet immediately to have him checked out. Listen to all the other posters and get professional help immediately.

Sounds like it could be Parvo, in which case you need to get him into a vet IMMEDIATELY (another vet - not the one you already saw, coz she obviously doesn't know what she's doing) because Parvo can kill really quickly (especially puppies). Probably not Parvo, but better safe than sorry... it you give it a few days to "wait and see", your dog will be dead.

It could also be some sort of kidney problem, which would explain why he only wants to eat wet food (when animals have a kidney problem, they CRAVE moisture), in which case it also needs to be treated immediately.

Also, as someone else said, Science Diet is horrible food... very low-grade ingredients (lots of byproducts, carcinogens, peanut shells as a cheap fiber supplement... some of the worst food out there, really)... Get him on some better food.

As far as a sensitive stomach, try feeding him a mixture of cottage cheese and white rice... feed him 3 or 4 small meals a day for a day or two. If it doesn't clear up, then it's something else (note: this is for when his ONLY problem is diarrhea or vomiting - but noth both together, or any other symptom with those... that suggests something more serious). But in this case, given his age and symptoms, it doesn't sound like just a sensitive stomach, so get him into a new vet immediately.

I have a 2 year old Lab and he did the same thing on Science Diet AND Eukanuba. Sometimes dog foods high in corn don't agree with different dogs. Lamb and rice, chicken and rice is a good way to go. It might even be the canned food that is bothering him. If you are only feeding him once a day or not enough, he's not getting enough food in his tummy for the acids and he'll get sick. Definitely take him to the vet. But if you can't do it right away they will probably suggest changing his food, or they might even suggest not feeding him for 24 hours and then start him off with boiled chicken and white rice for a few days and slowly mixing his food back into it if that doesn't bother him then you know he doesn't have anything major wrong with him. My dog has allergies and often gets sick or has diarrhea unless he is on his antihistamine but it's not PARVO like these other people are saying and it's not a food allergy. Don't go getting all worried about him having parvo right away. That is the worst advice anyone can give you because they don't know and it just gets you more worked up than you already are in worrying about your dog. Definitely call and/or take your dog to the vet if you can't do that right away then try chicken and rice.

I agree with the other person - it sounds like parvo. It's a horrible infection of the intestines that causes dogs to vomit and have diarrhea. If he has parvo, it's VERY serious and he needs to be hospitalized. Either way, I'd take him to the vet (maybe a different one this time, for a second opinion). A puppy that is not eating and is vomitting persistently really needs medical attention.

I'm not a vet so I would suggest taking him to one but here is my opinion. First of all, he could have a parasite like coccidia. His his stool bloody or odd. If you see any signs that his stool looks abnormal he may have a parasite or worse yet he may be ill.
Now on to his diet. It is very common for some dogs to develop food allergies from certain ingredients used in different brands of foods. So in turn, he could be having averse side effects from that. I would suggest trying another dry food that is not corn based and has no by products.
He is 8 months which is a little old for the teething stage but sometimes dogs develop a little slower and he may still be working through his teething stage which may be the reason for him chewing everything. Has your vet checked his teeth? Have your vet check his teeth to see if the puppy teeth have fallen out. Sometimes these have to be removed surgically.
I don't recommend giving your dogs table scraps. It can lead to obesity and other health factors. Hope this helped some.

Please have your vet do a stool sample to rule out contagious diseases. Especially if he is around other dogs.

Science Diet is low quality kibble even though I'm sure your vet swears by it. Read the label-how much meat is in it? It also contains known carcinogens. Find a high quality, balanced kibble for your dog. When he vomits in the morning and evening,is it mostly mucous? If so,that is a sign the tummy is too empty.Try feeding mini meals before bedtime. The biting/chewing sounds fairly normal for an 8 month old who has not been taught bite inhibition. Start redirecting your pup to chew toys whenever you see him chewing on something that is not allowed. Since he does has digestive issues, feed your pup boiled chicken and rice for a few days. Once the vomit stops and the poo is normal slowly switch back to the high quality kibble. Canidae is a good all stages kibble that is fairly easy to find. Good luck

I think you need to call your vet back and make sure you know how long this is likely to keep happening. If the vet felt your dog had an upset stomach that would be fine in a few days then you need to know that.

There are drugs that would help the vomiting and diarrhea.

Did the vet check the dogs teeth ? The biting behavior , and the preference for soft food might mean he has a sore tooth.

If you can , restrict the dog to a small area , plenty of newspapers .

I think I'd try another vet. If he's vomiting and has diarrhea after he eats, he could very well have an intestinal blockage. Eating things that aren't eatable and they get hung up in the intestines .

Puppies like to chew, get him some chew sticks.(the edible ones, like Rawhide). That's what I do when I have a new puppy. For the vomiting, it could be he's throwing up stuff he has been chewing on.
