I plan on having a "distant wedding." I refuse to call it a destination wedding because it will be in my native city and country, where my parents still live. It's in Brazil, so it has opposite seasons to the US. I know winter in Brazil is barely worthy of the name winter, but I still want to avoid the months of june-september.

Some of my friends, but most importantly one of his cousins and his "cousin-in-law" have restraints however. It is out of the question to have a wedding from january-april for his cousin who is an accountant, and his cousin in law is a teacher. We haven't discussed it with him yet (we would rather put that off). But we are hoping to have an october or november wedding.

The question is- is it reasonable for most (public) HS teachers to take off 3 days in october? That's what subs are for, right?

I would love to get a teacher's perspective!

Actually the cousins are more like sisters to him. And he was a groomsman in his cousin's wedding with the teacher in question. Quite possibly the teacher would be a groomsman in ours too.

I think a trip to Brazil needs at least 4 days (12 hour trip each way including 1 transfer in Sao Paulo), and we're hoping to do it on Veteran's day weekend. But if he could take a day or off he may actually get his money's worth for the trip and see a few of the sights.

i am a public school teacher in pa. most school districts give 3-5 personal days/year. so yes, it would be realistic for them to come & take off for 3 days, but it would be expecting them to use all of their personal days up in the beginning of the school year. some school districts also allow people to take "unpaid" days off through out the school year, but they usually make you use your personal days first. if they really want to be at your wedding, then they will figure it out!

October sounds nice. I'm not a teacher, but recently had a family member who is, take 4 days to come for an important family thing. Yes, that IS what subs are for.

Set your date, send out your invitations, and hope for the best. The teacher will have to decide whether to come, or simply send a card. If he's a cousin in law, he may not feel closely related enough to take the time off and make arrangements to come.

Remember also, that it is kind of expensive to travel for some. And, they'll have to obtain passports, I think. Get those invitations out early enough so the guests can make arrangements. Please don't feel offended if many of them can't make it.

You may be better off by having your wedding with your own family, and then a party in the States for those who can't travel that far.

It's very hard for a high school teacher to just get up and leave during the middle of the school year. A teacher's responsibility is to properly teach their students, in a timely manner. Taking a whole 3 day off and mess up teacher's lesson plan/schedule for the whole year. Three days is a long time for students to be with a sub, whom might not teach them properly or at all. Also, what if the teacher is in the middle of a difficult unit or lesson, if he goes away for that long he might compromise his student's learning the material properly.

It is a lot to ask a teacher to just get up and leave. Secondly, they may need to save those 3 days for when they are sick or have a personal emergency.

i remember in highschool having teachers who'd take 3 days off...we all threw a figurative party when we had subs!! and if you try to plan it so it'd fall on a weekend, (not saying you have, i know most weddings are on weekends anyway...) then they could get away with one day off, and then the weekend days would make three. it'd be just fine! my highschool let teachers take off whenever they needed them for whatever reason!! i actually think one of my teachers took about 2 or 3 days off for a wedding my junior year...so yah, it's not a problem!

anyway!! it's your wedding, so why plan it around when the family members can do it? plan it when you want, and becasue they love you, they'll come!!

There is no way you can accommodate every single person you know, with your wedding date. Pick a date that works for you and your immediate family, and who ever can make it, great. For the rest, show them your pictures. A cousin, and cousin-in-law are not exactly crucial. Maybe you could have a small reception when you get back, for the people who were unable to travel to Brazil. Good luck.

Wow you are able to desire to no longer have chosen 2 extra diverse careers!! The "extra effective" occupation could be diverse for each individual...yet in my opinion i might choose accountant. i think such as you have executed no learn, because of the fact in case you had, you would be attentive to the thousands of careers you may get as an accountant...and not purely in accounting! Getting your CA designation needless to say helps you to be an accountant and you will artwork for an business enterprise, start up your individual business enterprise, artwork for a small business enterprise and so on. although, accounting is an outstanding historic past for any C-point business enterprise government. Many CEOs, CFOs, COOs and so on have a CA designation. additionally, as a CA you're surely specific to have an outstanding earnings, one which will needless to say advance or shrink based upon your seniority. although, commencing salaries tend to be particularly significant, and merely save going up! additionally, relating to the remark you made approximately having to artwork 12-sixteen hours on occasion as an accountant? think of approximately coaching...say your college day is going from 9-4. you may could be there an hour-a million/2 an hour early, and relating to the comparable after college. and then whilst relaxing your necessary participation responsibilities (i.e. directing a play, training a game, and so on.) you may choose to stay after college for numerous hours, and then marking and checklist enjoying cards. so which you would be able to desire to very in all probability be working 12 hour days every day! to boot, as quickly as you income some seniority interior an business enterprise, or your individual, lots of CAs are waiting to set their own hours! some hours an afternoon, and then it rather is amazingly busy for the time of tax season. actual, the certainty which you're debating between such critically diverse careers with thoroughly diverse standards and coaching and occupation paths tells me which you may do extra learn. the two are very useful careers and that i motivate you to %. what makes you happier, yet be attentive to the large potential modifications in time dedication, training standards, and salaries and potential careers! And, in case you finally end up doing accounting, and years later you elect to be a instructor, you are able to properly be a professor or a intense college business enterprise/accounting instructor later in life! the comparable won't be in a position to be mentioned for any incorrect way around because of the fact accounting demands lots extra training.
