AC Tonnage required depends on more parameters than just the area of your room. You will need to take into account the sunlight, heat entering your room and number of electrical appliances you may be using.

Taking a rough average you will require 1 Ton AC. The best brand in energy efficiency is General Aircon (Shop keepers would call it O-General). Its EER (Energy efficiency ratio) is 10.5 against most other brands which are between 9 & 9.5. However this is a little expensive.

1 ton is about 12,000 BTU's. A unit this size may become a permanant window fixture. Other factors should be considered as to heat gain and exposure to the sun. ie. tree cover, amount of windows, insulation.

1 ton is comfortable. After some years even its efficiency decreased it will work.
