Have you had a good experience with them? I took my dog there when he was a puppy and only needed a bath and I really didn't like what they did for the amount they charged me. Now he has to get his hair cut and I'm debating on taking him there.

Do it yourself! It is so easy... I used to work at PetCo in the grooming department and I was very unhappy with the way some of the animals were treated. There were instances that I almost walked out because of the way the groomer was acting toward the animal. There was also an incident where I HAD to walk out or I would have kicked her (the groomer) ***!!! I would NEVER bring an animal to one of those places unless you plan on standing there and watching every move the groomer makes. Alot of those "groomers" are not even qualified enough to be doing what they are doing. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! I was hired there and I didn't kow the first thing about it. Be very careful! If you HAVE to take your dog to a groomer, do some research in your area and find a VERY reputable groomer. It may cost you a little more, but your dog is worth it!

I take my dog there to get her nails trimmed. It cost me $8 and they do while I'm there and I get stay with her. She's a nightmare otherwise ... lol.

I guess with any Petsmart, it all depends on who is doing the grooming. You could try taking your dog on a different day and requesting as different groomer. I've found that Petco and Petsmart charge pretty much the same, depending on what you're having done. You could look in your local Yellow Pages and call around for other groomers and ask for prices or referrals.

Good luck.

I have used PetSmart grooming many times and they have done excellent work with my animals. I have two long hair cats that are groomed into Lion Cuts to make the long hair more manageable and they come out beautiful.
My dogs get periodic baths with nail trimming and tooth brushing and they also look very good. Maybe your puppy was a little bit nervous and hard to manage but keep working with him and have him groomed again. Make sure you tell them that you were not very happy with the first appointment and I am sure they will make your dog look beautiful.

I really like Petsmart grooming. My dogs are holy terrors when it comes to being bathed and groomed, but they always take good care of them and the dogs look great. I guess it varies from store to store, but I use coupons that I've found for their grooming. If you have an Entertainment book, that's where I got my $10 off of grooming coupon, and there's another online at www.entertainment.com

I personally think it's worth it..

Depends on how big your dog is. If it's a small breed, i've paid about $30 per groom in the past.

However, you may want to consider Petco. They have a frequent grooming program. After 8 paid grooms, you get a free one.

If you have a dog that has specific grooming needs, you should go to a professional.

I would try a new groomer. Your dog will give you a good vibe when you have the right groomer. It's all in the groomer, not the store. Some groomers are just that groomers and some groomers are Great Groomers for a reason. Ask for referrals from your vet. Good luck. But your pooch is worth every dollar. I promise.

i have a bad experience with petsmart. i took my yorky there about a month ago to get a hair cut... and when i went to pick him up they gave me another dog. it looked the same so i dint notice until i got home and he wasnt responding to his name and he was scared of his fave toy so i called the petsmart and spoke to the woman and she insisted that it was impossible. well i wetn there and indeed they had given me the wrong dog. i was so happy to see my baby that i didnt even make a problem out of it, but im definately not taking him there ever again.

I have had good experiences there with my wire fox terrier, but I really think it differs at each store. If you aren't happy/comfortable with them, take your dog somewhere else. Grooming should be a positive experience for both you and your dog.
