My 15 year old son does not want to go to school and has failed 3 out of 4 classes in his first semester of High School. I'm stumped on what I can do to make him care about his schooling.

Sit down and talk to them about all aspect of school. Make sure you ask a lot of open ended questions & questions about their answers also.

What you will need to do is listen to their answers (find keywords) and pick up on their moods about a particular subject.

Figure out what aspect about school they like the most (excluding friends, lunch, and going to the bathroom) and focus on that point. That will help them focus on that issue (projects in classes, special activities, etc). It will give them something to look forward to. Also, it will be something he feels he can share with you. So Ask OFTEN.

You need to talk to your son and tell him how important it is for him to stay in school! Also, encourage him to stay in school and tell him what the consequences are going to be if he continues to do what he's doing now!
