there is no such thing as god. If he he existed why are so many horrible things happening in the world today. He claims to be all powerful.... then why does he allow thousands of innocent children to die every day from starvation, religion is a joke that makes desperate people feel happier about themselves! don't even talk about god! it doesn't exist!

How would you prove that YOU are sympathetic? God is a Person. All you can do is come up with character references. His Word would qualify as one method of proving His Character. And Jesus claimed to be the demonstration of God's Character. His Resurrection is so well documented because it is the proof of the truth of His Word. Also, you can test character by the fruits of His Actions. In providing a means of Salvation for all men, He proves His sympathetic Character.

The force behind everything or "god" can be neither sympathetic nor hard hearted. After all, sympathy and other emotions are what we have developed in the society as humans. How can you always consider god to be so human with emotions and human behaviour?

He loves us SO much that He sent His own Son to suffer and die for OUR sins - past, present, and future. He doesn't want ANYONE to perish....I think that's pretty sympathetic. He's given everyone a way out - it's up to each individual whether or not they take it. If we are truly repentant and we cry out for mercy, He will be merciful. People seem to think that just because God loves us or just because they accept Jesus into their hearts, life should be trouble free. That's NOT the way it works. The thing is, the closer our relationship is with God, the harder Satan works to destroy it. Jesus suffered for us to the point of death. The only death He asks of most of us, is to die to self
(i.e. self-centeredness) so that we can learn how to walk in love even if we don't FEEL like it.

Because He became a Man in the Person of Jesus Christ. John3:16-"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting Life". God effected complete self-disclosure in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus.
