We need a "while" for being able to switch to renewable energy resources, but I'm sure we can do it.

By the way: "That we want it or not,.....There we've to go".
Statistics states that in a period of 15-20 years, oil reserves, will end.
Other resources as coal : "better to not use it so much"(Acid rain, etc).
- Gas resources could help.
-At the end we will end in the renewable energy resources :solar, eolic, geothermal, tidal, etc.

Of course, humanity will have to "switch" too,to different kind of behaviours, habits. Accepting compromises between their needs and what they could have,at that point.
(Forget about fast cars as the ones of nowadays, lights everywhere and in excess,easy-cheap traveling by plane, energy consumption in the houses without limits....ETC,ETC,ETC.).

I'm ,here, talking about a "esy" scenario, but sure, the big lobbies are yet thinking about this and preparing themselves for the "due" changes.

Absolutely, several highly concentrated wind and solar farms in strategic locations could easily provide electric power for the entire country, cutting oil imports by 75%. They have already been tested very successfully on a small scale and within 5 years if a concerted effort were forthcoming the entire system could be in place.
Why is it not happening? Ask greenpiece, Audubon, and all those "not in my back yard" property owners...
