All Hollywood hype. He never had a documented fight. It was all displays put on with his own chosen partners and the only fight he apparently had was behind closed doors and there are no photos and everyone who was there has a different story of what happend. Lee says he kicked the guys *** allthough neither had a mark on them and the other guy Wong Jack... Challenged Lee to a public fight to show once and for all but Lee declined and they never fought again. His trip to the Long Beach Karate Championships in 1964. Was a personal invite by Chuck Norris, because Lee helped get Noris into films. Lee did 2 fingered push-ups and his "patented" 3 inch punch on his own chosen partner. That was it no fights definatly not with Noris. And all the stories people will talk about when Lee beat up 5 Triads on a movie shoot or the time he beat up half te guys on a movie set because they said his style was crap. They are all full of it and buying into the BS of other Bullshido artist Lee fans. He's a movie star that's it he was cocky and did everything he could to make himself look good to help nuild up his fan base. Being the only guy at the time in the US doing the whole Martial arts movie thing he became a big hit.

Bruce was a master philosopher and trainer. He never was a fighter in the sense of fighting for a living like Bill Wallace, Billy Blanks, Chuck Norris, Jet Li, Don Wilson, etc. They are two kinds of Martial Art Masters...those that practice and those that fight (in underground-anything goes matches) or mainstream tournaments regularly. Bruce was a philosopher, against these fighters, like the ones above, he would lose.

Bruce Lee was way ahead of his time. During the late 60's early 70's before his unfortunate passing, he was still doing his own research in JKD. Hollywood was just a vehicle for him to be able to share his thoughts and philisophies in the arts.

I believe that MMA would not be it today if it wasn't for Bruce Lee's influence in the arts. Even the MMA guys today are continuously evolving. If Bruce was alive today, he'd be way ahead of the current MMA guys, even by just a bit. From all the books, internet information and some videos, yes...Bruce was that good.

He didn't grow up training in temples lol... he grew up training Wing Chun at a dojo.

He was however the best Martial Artist in the wolrd at the time, and probably one of the toughest, if not the toughest man to fight in the world. You would not want to make him angry. He has been known for giving people whiplash and major injuries, just by them holding a kicking shield for him to kick. He was also the strongest man pound for pound in the world. He was that good. If anything, Hollywood made him look less adept than he actually was.

I think it was a little of both. He was good but things are so much differnt today. Was royce Gracie that good? (not if you ask Matt Hughes) This sport moves so fast you have a very small window of greatness.

In his time he was ridicously good and very advanced compare to others. but today he would be nothing unless he continue to pick other styles up, but then he would be old.
