They're probably concerned that he's 'too old' for you, but within a year you'll be 18 and it won't matter because you'll legally be an adult. 2 years isn't that big of a difference, especially as you get older. The important thing is how he treats you and the kind of person he is. Have you tried sitting down and talking to them? Maybe they've spotted something about him that troubles them that you haven't had the time and experience to realize yet.
Also, how far apart are your parents' ages? If they have a couple (or more) years between them, you could use that as an example of relationships that can work with the age difference.

They're probably thinking, "He's over 18, you're under 18."
I'm Sixteen years old, turning Seventeen this April, my boyfriend just turned Nineteen, there shouldn't be that big of a problem, you're at that "Age" where most men will be 18 and older. If he was like 23 or something there would be a problem, but two years is hardly anything to fuss over...
Best thing to do, is keep it low. Explain to him that your parents are making a big deal, and then tell him to keep your relationship under-wraps. (No affection where your parents can see it, and mainly always have a few friends go with you guys on your dates, best way to avoid questioning.)
Do this until you're 18, then openly date him again.

Hey i kinda know where you are coming from. Im 19 and my girlfriend is 17. Her mom liked me but her step-dad didnt. after being around and them seeing that i would never lay a hand on her ( in anger) they became cool with it. I guess its cuz i presented myself in a respectful way. all he and you have to do is be very respectful and everything will be fine. probably too cuz i am financially stable (making 30 grand a year). but they didnt and still dont know how much i make with the exception that i do own a 2000 ford explorer. off the subject.
just when he comes around if he is respectful through all the hell he will have to go through they will see that he is suited for you. and on your end always talk about how happy he makes you and they will see that your happiness is good and will eventually see how you two are good for each other.

Your parents probably do not like you dating at all. Also because you are 17 not legal and he is 19. They may just not like the situation and want you to not date period. Talk to your parents and see why they do not like him if they really do not. Sometimes you do not see what others do.

If you're in high school and he's in college they may be afraid that his life experience is beyond your and may try to get you to do something you're not ready for.
I know it sounds close in age, but those are big years. It's not like a 23 yo with a 25 yo.

Parents have the right to be annoyed at anything you do. I don't see the age difference to be that major but you are a minor and you do live in their house. As unfair as it may seem, they are only looking out for you.

as u know parents can be overly protective. thats all it is, they are trying to protect u fron being hurt by this guy. and the age difference does play a part even though it is only 2 yrs. try and let them know how u feel in a mature way and get them to explain why they disagree so much

Sounds like they are being over protective. Tell them you need to live your own life, and then just walk away when they start talking about him. If it helps, leave the house when they do it. You are old enough to make the decision yourself.
