The Bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and no believing scholars and scientists. This included verification for numerous customs, places, names, and events mentioned in the Bible.
One among many examples is the fact that for many years the existence of the Hittites (a powerful people who lived during the time of Abraham) was questioned because no archaeological digs had uncovered anything about them. Critics claimed the Hittites were pure myth. But today the critics are silenced. Abundant archaeological evidence for the existence of the Hittites during the time of Abraham has been uncovered.
Bible scholar Donald J. Wiseman notes, "The geography of Bible lands and visible remains of antiquity were gradually recorded until today more than 23,000 sites within this region and dating to Old Testament times, in their broadest sense, have been located." Nelson Glueck, a specialist in ancient literature, did an exhaustive study and concluded: "It can be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverter a biblical reference." Well-known scholar William F. Albright, following a comprehensive studies, wrote: "Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition of the value of the Bible as a source of History."
There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection NOW. there are also some 86,000 quotations from the early church fathers and several thousand lectionaries (church-service books containing Scripture quotations used in the early centuries of Christianity). In fact, there are enough quotations from the early church fathers that even if we did not have a single copy of the Bible, scholars could still reconstruct all but 11 verses of the entire New Testament from material written within 150 to 200 years from the time of Christ. Bottom line: The New Testament has an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting its reliability.

There is no proof - that's the idea. You must have "faith" it is true. That's why they call the religions a "faith". And "faith" is just another word for "hope". So, in order to follow these religions, you gotta "Hope" they are true. In other words, you gotta "Hope" you haven't lived your life for nothing and that your beliefs are true.
The reason you feel 'quest-y' is because the bible is written in circles. Answers to the questions are just other questions. So if you are looking for proof, you will just go around and around and around.
The only proof, supposedly, were the 10 commandments - which are supposedly the only thing written by god. Moses went to the top of a mountain, alone, and ran into a burning bush that talked to him as direct agent of god, and god etched the commandments in stone. Unfortunately, the only thing supposedly written by god were carelessly thrown to the ground, smashed, and lost forever. I guess they didn't think they were THAT important. The bible was written by human beings. People who were farmers, fishermen, etc. Just like the guy who lives across the street from you or any other neighbor. If your neighbor came over and handed you a book that he and 11 other guys got together and wrote, would you believe that book is the last word in what is true?

The Old Testament scriptures are used as a history text in the schools of Israel.
The Israeli Ministry of Antiquities (scientists and archeologists) verify the accuracy of the Bible every day.
Secular historians (Roman historian Josephus Flavius in particular) lend their own expertise to verification of the story of the Bible.

Archaeologists claim that the Bible gives more assistance in finding ancient sites than any other manuscripts. If the physical aspects mentioned in the Bible are true, why not the spiritual aspects?

There's not a whole lot of historical accuracy in the bible. But even if there was, it wouldn't mean that the rest of it is true. Harry Potter can be historically accurate, but that doesn't mean people can do magic. And no amount of accuracy in the bible would prove the existance of a god.

Why ask others to do what you can do yourself? If you're truly interested in the validity of the Bible, visit your local library and do your own research. If you want to discredit the Bible, nothing posted in this forum will disuade you; so don't waste other people's time.

I can tell you some history that was in the Bible that at one time no one believed in but we found them to be true. The Bible told of copper mines that would be located in Jeruselam. The archeologists said it did not exist, But we found them.
