When your brain is deprived of oxygen, the mind (the soul's core) slowly turns off and you might hallucinate and when revived you'll think you went somewhere. To really go somewhere, Christ must come and resurrect us. Angels can also can often take the form humans or can show visions of real humans and demons can tamper with them to decieve. Thus the origin of ghosts.
The soul was translated from the words nephesh and psuche which both refer to self, the person, the mind, the body, etc. The spirit is translated from words like neshama (breath), ruach (spirit), and pneuma (breath). The soul (the person) needs the spirit of life (or breath) to live.

The Gnostics have a similar system. They believe that people are made up of three parts, the body, the soul, and the spirit. The body and soul were fashioned by the false creator god. The soul tries to influence the body, for better or worse. The spirit is of the true God of Light. The false god, who stole the spirit from his mother Sophia, was tricked into breathing the spirit into Adam, and by extension all mankind. Any time I read that the soul is seated in the brain, I have to giggle a little bit. Souls do not die. Energy never dies, it just changes form. The soul is an eternal thing from from which our consciousness springs. According to my belief, that is the truth. You are entitled to yours even if I disagree.
I find your attempt to explain ghosts is also worthy of a serious chortle. Angels tampered with by devils? Sorry, that, to me, is so hilarious I cannot stop laughing. Were you raised in a remote area of the world where primitive beliefs were taught you?
