My boyfriend and I have known each other since we kids and he has always tried to talk to me but I ignored and finally I gave him the attention. Well, long story short... All my boyfriend does is buy me things, cook me dinners, breakfast in bed, goes to the nail salon with me and stuff like that. Then when I say buy me things, I mean he buys me jewlery, cell phone, a car... anything a girl really wants, but my guestion is... Is it a problem if my boyfriend only worries about how i feel and what i want instead of worrying about himself? What should i do??

Thinking about him is YOUR job.

Thinking about you is HIS job, which he seems to be doing.

What if all husbands and wives were so focused on each other rather than themselves?

Treat him the way you want to be treated. The door of service should swing both ways.

Wow! How nice of him! I think it sounds like he really likes you and cares about you=) But I agree, there is a fine line between being a "sugardaddy" and being in a great relationship. Just feel out the situation and if it's still on your mind ask him: "I think it's sweet you do so much for me, are you sure that's ok with you" kind of thing, then you can determine with his answer and body language, you know? My boyfriend does things for me (ususally offers really)and i'll take him up on his offer, like meet for lunch or at a store etc...but he doesn't buy me things constantly because I usually have what I need =) But you'll figure things out! Best wishes!

If he is sincere in his caring for you, be happy! But, it has been my experience that when a guy is going out of his way to buy you so much elaborate stuff and doing over and above things you ask for, then he is generally doing this to shield you from whatever he is hiding. He may be doing these things and buying the gifts in hopes that you won't see what is really going on. Or he may be doing these things out of genuine affection. But beware, if he is doing all of this stuff now, there may come a time that he will resent you for having done so much for you and nothing for himself in return. Is he insecure in your realtionship? This may be why he is trying to "buy" and "win over" your love.
Just some things to think about. He may not be cheating or hiding anything from you, he may not be insecure, and he may never resent you, but it is all a possibility that you may not see from the inside looking out. Good luck and hope things stay wonderful!

Sounds like he's doing these things because you tell him to. You just admitted to telling him to buy you things. A lot depends on how he is as a person. Does he let you walk all over him? Then yes, he needs to stand up for himself. My boyfriend does tons of things for me, even when I tell him not to. He loves me and cares for me. It's his culture. He does everything for friends and family. But, he is certainly no pushover or doormat. What you should do is not expect him to do all these things for you. Do something nice for him in return. Tell him he doesn't have to do all these things for you. A relationship should be about equality. He may also be afraid that if he stops, he will lose you. Is he right?

He sounds like a great guy. But what do you do for him? Are you the kind of girl that's taking advantage of his kindness and treats him mean or rotten, because most girls that have a guy like that does treat them mean, because they know that this guy will do almost anything for her. Don't worry about him he seem to be pleasing you and I hope you are doing the same. Take good care of him there's not a lot of guys out there that will doing that.

wether it's right for him is up to him. It is self destructive behaviour, but most likely you won't be able to stop it. sounds like he believes he truely loves you and would do anything for you, but has taken it a bit too far. Most of the time that kind of behaviour will only last a short time. He will either see that he don't need to do all that to keep you in his life, or he'll see that you're not the godess he thought you were at first.

I would seriously wonder whether he is trying "to buy love". or at least buy the keeping of love. I would discuss this with him. He may be covering security issues regarding your relationship since it took so long to get you.

He sounds like a good doormat. He's lost himself in you. And you had a role in all of this.
