...Feel in awe and ecstatic over the world without a God, and science?

I'm okay with both sides, though I get a tad fired up sometimes, but I don't understand conversion... Why do it if someone is just as happy with their beliefs as you are with yours? There are many different convictions about religion, and about ethics, and no one theory/belief can be proved right (well maybe eschatologically, but not in our lives anyway.)

Because christianity tells people who believe in God not to associate with those who don't. Tell them about him, pursuade them to their faith. If they resist, leave them alone to suffer in Hell. That is why I'm pagan.

Awesome question! I happen to be one of the God crowd, but I absolutely agree with you and support both your right to be in awe over the world and science without God, and to be bothered by any who claim to receive religious revelation, get all excited about it, but show no tolerance for your experience.

They are wrong, and invaldating the authenticity of their own revelation by failing to rejoice with you over the greatness and beauty you find in this world.

Yes, I would take the position that even your sense of awe and ecstacy over the world...and even science...is only capable of being realized because of the creator's impartation of himself into you as the handiwork of his own image.

But, do I need for you to accept or agree with that for me to get excited, have fun, appreciate your sense of awe for the world and science and even possibly enjoy it all together with you?

Absolutely not! Go after it and enjoy this life however you choose...and I trust you don't mind me doing the same, and can have a little tolerance when I express awe and ecstacy over what i receive as spiritual revelation.

Perhaps it is fear that the other people may be right---and this very thought makes them feel that they are not worthy of their own beliefs.

I will say that after one has had religious revelation, the feeling is such that you want to share it with the world. It takes discipline to realize that the gift you wish to share is not right for everyone.

Religous fanatics are a pain in the butt!
They are not content or secure in their lives so they go out trying to turn other people into messed up bigoted idiots like themselves. The more people who think what they think, the more they can believe it!
You generally find that the people who make the most noise are the people who are the least secure in their lives and what they believe in.
Wise people generally just get on with their own lives, quietly making a difference.
I suggest that we just happily get on with our own lives and ignore them.
