It depends on the brand. CCM skates are usually like 2 sizes off, and Mission skates a right on. You gotta check it out.

in case you employ rented skates, you gets a blister because of the fact the skates are no longer formed on your foot and could no longer in advantageous condition top. In ice skating you might have administration of your ft so in case you bypass larger sizes the extra room the skate has to rub and create a blister. wearing thick socks is an outstanding concept, yet they are in a position to bunch up and reason much extra soreness. in case you skate lots i might advise getting your individual pair of skates so as that they are in a position to shape on your foot (even nonetheless on the 1st few circumstances they'll harm) and you'd be waiting to skate very rather. I on occasion get a blister however the day in the previous as we communicate I skated for an hour immediately and did no longer get a blister. I positioned on tights that cover my ft and the tights do no longer bunch as much as rub, and that i positioned on skinny socks and a band help over the blister. if that's bugging you and you do no longer will to no longer purchase previous skates(because of the fact new are rather costly yet used are lots extra value-effective) then positioned moleskin(merely something to guard blisters, no longer authentic mole's dermis) on the band help and use socks interior the tights to help. the final situation you elect to do is to get a much bigger length for the reason that better room will help create a much bigger blister. Ice skates in advantageous condition smaller than often used footwear, so your foot shouldn't wobble around. it could experience too tight, yet one length down out of your often used footwear will do. The try is that in case you are able to stroll on the skate many times or in case you may tie it tighter.

Don't. I wore too big ice-boots (with thick socks) at around eight or nine years old and I still have the scars on my ankles.

Yep. I think that you should. I also do this with footy boots so he can wear thick socks in them and I don't have to replace them every 10 mintues when his feet grow.

theres a trade-off here...
he would be able to use them longer before he outgrows them, sure.
but he will not have the control that he needs if his foot and ankle are loose.
if you get the bigger size, pack the foot area as much as you can, and tighten it around the ankles as best as possible.
