Scripture:
“When the unclean spirit goes out of a man . . . it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds it swept and put in order. Then it goes and takes along seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.” – Luke 11:24-26 NASB
The Inspiration Networks recently received an email from a man in the United Kingdom who wrote that he had been battling with Satanic forces. Through reading the Inspiration Today! devotional magazine, he realized God wanted him “to take further steps in spiritual warfare.” Even the night before receiving the magazine, he “was tormented by demonic spirits,” continuing a battle that “had been going on for years.” The devil had victimized him as the result of voodoo, and he “ended up almost out of my mind.” But, through the ministry we provided, this man was set free!
Millions of people are just like this man, tormented by demons. Christians must realize that these demonic forces are real, and they look for people who are open to their influence. Jesus spoke of an unclean spirit that came back to a life that was “swept and put in order.” That person was not prepared for Satan’s attacks. He was vulnerable, and a demonic spirit returned with seven other spirits more evil than itself.
Today, make sure you are ready for these spiritual attacks. First, make sure your heart is clean. Don’t allow any TV programs, movies, books, or anything else with demonic elements into your life or home. Instead, fill your mind and heart with God’s Word. Praise and worship Him. Be on guard, and take up the spiritual weapons God has given you (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Prayer:
Father, help me to be ready for the attacks of the enemy. Give me spiritual sensitivity. Open my eyes to see the truth more clearly. I trust You and declare victory! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I have heard of using an Indian Shaman (holy man) who will do a sage ceremony (burning the sage brush) to rid the house of less than desirable energies. Some Wicca can also be used- there are several sites on the web for perusal under Wicca. Also, there are priests who can give blessings. I am not sure which denominations do this, but I am sure that they all would if asked.

There are no spirits. That is all just superstition. However, if you believe something strongly enough, you can freak yourself out and think you're actually seeing something. The brain is geared towards recognizing human voices and seeing human faces, so much so that it will see them when they're not there. It'll interpret any creak or shadow as some person. There is no real evidence of actual spirits.

Not only the best way but the ONLY way to rid a house of evil spirits is to invoke the Name of Jesus of Nazareth.

Stop believing in silly superstitions. You ever notice how people who don't believe in the supernatural never have problems with "hauntings" or "possession"? Weird 'coincidence', isn't it?
