10 mg of lexapro works well for me. 20 mg is out there too but it leaves me feeling wired and edgy if i take that much.

Well, I live in Southern California and here in the winter, it is sunny most of the time. When it's not, then it's fun to cozy up on the couch and watch tv. I lived in eastern Washington state for a time, and after a while the snow and cold weather would wear me down. It helped to open the blinds and let in all the light outside. The sheer whiteness of the snow would lighten up a dark winter room. Light helps a lot with those "blues" feelings. If that isn't an option, then turn on a lot of lights in your home, get some happy, upbeat music on, get on the internet and browse for fun activities that you would do if you had the resources to do them. Sometimes, thinking about what you would like to do can give you the opportunity, when you are feeling down, to think of ways to accomplish those goals/dreams. Also, writing an e-mail or letter to a friend or loved one is a good way to pass time, as is a phone call and also reading a good book or magazine. If you can get outside and go for a walk, that also helps. While walking, the mind tends to wander and it helps to pass the time. When you are done with your walk/exercise, the endorphins released from the exercise will help improve your mood. When I went through my divorce, I was so stressed out and upset. I spent practically every day at the gym, for 1-2 hours a day. My son said I was obsessed. I was. Still, that temporary over-indulgence for me at the gym helped me tremendously at that time because the exercise vastly improved my mood and ability to cope and deal with the stress of my divorce. Good luck to you! I hope you can get your car fixed soon.

I have a few suggestions for you:

Get daily excercise...10-15 minutes of aerobics in your room will do the trick. In the winter, some tend to be less active and this can cause those dreaded blues.

Get proper sleep

Eat well- not just fast food, coffee, alchohol, etc...

Drink water...sounds funny but is proven to help those blues.

Humans need sunlight. Vitamin D. Open the window shades, let it in, bundle up and take a walk...won't need a car for that...two legs do the trick.

Get some nature in the room you spend the most...Get a plant.

Read some happy books, surround yourself with positive thoughts.

If you could travel I would have more ideas, but try and do some of these things and it should help....Good Luck.....:o)

Get lots of sunlight, go out for a walk at the peak of the day and enjoy!

Winter blues or seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is caused by not getting enough sunlight in the day. You can also purchase light boxes for at home use however, despite the cold just getting out and going for a 20 minute walk in the sunshine will do wonders.

Light boxes are awesome too, however they can get pricy.

Hi, I hired a lightbox from the national lighthire company and it works a treat, I also have a dawn/dusk simulation lamp by my bed which also seems to help. Try ebay for one they always have loads. Licorice is also said to help? Hope this helps.
