God's always fair. Being happy is a choice.

Whether you know it or not, everyone has good and bad times. Some have it harder and others don't. I'm certain that God would rather have everyone be happy, but we also are learning. In some ways, we learn through good and bad experiences. While it may seem that some people are 'always' miserable and unfortunate, they actually do/can have happiness. They may have to search for it or it may just very well be right under their nose! God isn't being unfair. (Although I've questioned this myself)
But I do believe that we are unfair to others, and ourselves.
I hate to use the the phrase "you choose how you feel" because it sounds like your at fault and you shouldn't choose to feel really depressed because e.g. some jerkwad defiled you or you're not suppossed to feel sad that you can't afford to pay your rent this month. "YOU CHOSE TO BE SAD" well I say that's a load of bull. You feel how you feel, just don't let it drag you down for so long. If that happens, you could always ask for help.

Why would you think god has anything to do with people's emotional states? I suppose for some people he would if they depend on him, but not for everybody. People don't necessarily "get" to be sad and miserable. Obviously situations and obstacles can make you feel that way but people choose to be happy or not. I'm not saying its easy to just be happy. I've had my own struggle with depression but it is not the work of God. I don't even believe in God but you asked.

Edit:
djwen- That is untrue that extroverts are normally said to be the happy ones while the introverts are not. To be happy introverts don't need to be around a lot of people and it can actually be stifling and make them unhappy to be around too many people too often. And "happy people smile and laugh a lot", that is true, but a lot of people that are perceived as happy by smiling and laughing are putting up a facade. They are hiding their sadness. Also, just because a person is talkative it doesn't mean they are happy; they may be or they may be insecure and need to talk to feel more secure. People are more complex than that.

Extroverts are normally said to be the happy ones compared to introverts. Happy people are always with their friends. People who goes clubbing are seemed to be happy. Lonely people are deceived to be sad? Happy people smile and laugh alot, sad people give no expression, or alwys show a sad face. A talkative person is also a happy one.

I became a practising catholic as soon as my mum died and now I've realised how unfair I've being to God. Blaming him for my emotions, first of all he doesnt chose all this **** to happen msot of its morall evil in the world. and yeh my mum died and thats not moral evil but what im saying is God doesnt want me to be unhappy he doesnt want to give other people a better life I choose my own feelings I choose to cry because ym mums died I could smile because I know shes with god. its a hard question, and if you feel like this and need to talk I may be young but I have good ears :)

I think your life is what you make it. The more you put into it, the more blessings & happiness you receive. There are also medications to help. I must say I do know how you feel. When I feel down I try to get out more, read, hangout w/my daughters & stay out of bed is a must.

perhaps the degree of happiness one feels is related to how open we are to God and others? I have noticed that miserable people are often more shut down than positive-thinking, open minded people.? I guess this is more of a comment to your question than an answer.
