I tend to think of 'fats' as saturated or hydrogenated oils. These are NOT good for you....includes margarine, shortening.

LARD is NOT GOOD either.

Vegetable oils are generally better than animal fats.

Fish oil and omega-3, -6 are Very healthy.

Same for Olive Oil, sunflower, flax seed oil.

I minimize fried foods, but use canola for sir fry, or peanut oil. Also in place of shortening for pie crust.

I do not know about rapeseed oil.

It is in a lot of processed foods, though. Try googling it.

No, good oils mentioned will not make you fat. But lots of candy, pasta, sugar, dumplings, pizza, macaroni, mashed potatoes, cakes, cupcakes and the like will.

I really like Rhubarb/Strawberry/Pumpkin/Apple/Peach pies though. I avoid chocolate creme pie, Moonies, jelly beans, gummy candies.

Try lentils, hjummus if excluded items are ones you like. These are YUMMY and good for you.

Beans are better than pasta. I like yellow limas. You can cut down on meats when using beans, lentils, hummus and still feel very satisfied.

The fattest people I see, so fat that it is rather disgusting, even need a special chair at work owing to size of butt, are the ones who are always pigging out on KFC and other types of fried chicken and mashed potatioes. Also they tend to eat two large deep dish pizzas by themselves. Always snacking on twinkies, cupcakes, cookies.....

Omega 3,6,&9 are good for you. The most economical source is flaxseed oil. I mix one tablespoon in with my protein shake.

One study had subjects 6 grams (that's alot) of just omega 3 (dht and epa) a day for 8 weeks. They lost like 5 lbs. on average versus the placebo group. I believe the subjects exercised which makes it hard statistically to isolate the effects of the omega3s.
