I am 26 years old and have always wanted a beard. I can only grow a few hairs like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. Why is that? and what can i do to get it to grow?

I am hispanic, mostly native blood shows, but my father, uncles and grandfathers on both sides have thick beards, bunch of show offs, even one of my sisters, but i wish I had as many as 5 hairs.

If Rogain or Minoxidil worked to grow a beard wouldn't you also get hair on your hands?

Its genetics pal, sorry. I can grow a great Goatee, but if I try to grow on the rest of my face it looks like I have pubes glued to my face. Nothing you can do about it.

There are some people who are hairy and there are some people who are not. You fall in the " have not " category. Just because facial hair as absent doesn't mean you are not a man. Just be thankful that you don't have to go through the shaving routine once or twice a day just to be presentable. If you are enthralled with a beard, find an actor's make-up store. They have all you need plus the gum spirits to attach them.

I wouldn't say it is heredity my brother has trouble growing a beard he is 30. I started growing a beard at 13. He never once shaved until he got in the Navy at 18 and the only reason he shaved in the Navy is because they made him. He has fine blond hair maybe that is the reason I don't know. I have to shave twice a day to keep the stubble off so I just grew a goatee so I wouldn't have to shave that much.

I think it's all due to genes... nothing you can do will give you a thicker beard. Even in a family there's variation.... my dad has a heavy, thick beard, and so does one of my brothers, but the other one probably has 5 hairs on his face.

Count your blessings dude. Having a coarse beard sucks. I can never get a smooth shave, and 6 hour later I look like a bum.

The amount of hair on a man's body is determined by a hormone called testosterone... Less hair means less of that hormone....
What you can do to grow a beard.... I dunno... maybe hormone treatment, but I wouldn't recommend it.. It might get you into even more trouble.... I don't even know why you want a beard... I'm pretty sure you're handsome just the way you are... ;)
