Why are they allowing 17 and under to get plastic surgery? Their bodies are still growing. They might be mature enough mentally but how is their bodies mature enough? Some want breasts...but breasts don't stop growing until you are in your 20's.

I suggest you do some more research and educate yourself.

First of all, the body usually stops growing around the age of 18. This is why that age was established as the age of adulthood. In some cases, it may still grow, but not very much.

Second of all, we are FAR from mentally mature at 17, 18, 19, or even 20. Most irrational decisions are made during the teen and post teen years. We become closer to mental maturity around 25 years of age.

The overall issue of plastic surgery should be perform for those who have suffered disfigurements due to birth or accidents, to relieve pain or for other medical problems. The media hype of body perfection has most people on a low self esteem and insecurity level. The plastic surgery business is blossoming due to all this insecurity and it's pathetic. The days of accepting yourself for who you are is in the past. The world is being dominated by greed, power hungry, selfish and mostly insecure people.

I really don't think that it should be legal to do that, even with parental permission. You're right, there bodies are still growing, and it really doesn't seem like a safe thing to do.

However, in some cases, it's not so bad. For example, if they have some kind of deformity, or if a 15 year old has EXTREMELY large breasts (abnormally large), things like that.

As far as like 16 year olds getting breast implants, I don't think that it's healthy, nor are they capable of completely making an adult decision.
