Does anyone live in a street where you need a parking permit? If you live in the house you are entitled to it ,and you also get a visitors permit, for your visitor so you dont get a ticket. But the council also have given out business permits which means there is free parking for anyone who applies, not just businesses on my street either, which means there isn't enough spaces for the residents. Has anyone got a similar problem and have you had any sucess with the council to revoke the business permits. It's really frustrating when you can't get parked anywhere, especially with kids and shopping, thanks.

Yes, this happens. A permit does not guarantee a spot.

You should attend the next city council meeting and get yourself on the agenda. Check with the clerk, beforehand (typically the clerk's phone number is on the city web site) about the process for getting on the agenda. It may take a few months before there is a slot.

Then, give a short and polite explanation of the situation. If you have a few of your neighbors stand up with you (even if they don't speak), it'll add impact.

Respectful ask for reconsideration of the business permits.

Then, they'll likely suggest that the agenda be on the agenda, again, for a future meeting, to allow time for businesses to make their case. At which point, after hearing from "both" sides, they'll make a decision about what's right for the neighborhood.

Sometimes, the citizens win. Sometimes not. Depends, somewhat, on local politics. If the businesses are bringing in a lot of revenue, guess who the council is going to side with?

it appears like you may, yet you ought to search for suggestion from the city lawyer, and see how he/she translates any ordinance regarding parking zones. the city lawyer, in preserving with thier interpretattion can inform you techniques best to procede. you ought to anticipate this to be a lengthy procedure. not something in authorities ever receives finished instantly.
